Subject: Did I imagine it? M2 textures work on James?!?

LostinSpaceman ( ) posted Mon, 04 April 2005 at 12:49 AM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 12:03 AM

I could have sworn someone said James would take M2 textures. I've got one M2 freebie but havn't had any luck getting it to work yet. Did I imagine this being possible?

Don't have P6 but I don't remember anybody saying about M2 textures working on James. Both Jessi and James have their own UV mapping, different from any of DAZ figures.

M2 textures work on Don. There are some problems around the eyelids, but they are minor; the skin fits pretty well. If you have Poser 6, you also have the P5 family. The link is to an old thread discussing morphs for Don, but my pictures were all using free textures, except for Anton's Nordic Mike (which fit extremely well). Carolly

That must have been what I was thinking. Thanks Carolly. It's a terrible thing ta get old and misremember stuff. ;)

:shhhhh!: The only way to keep senility at bay is to keep learning new stuff faster than we can forget it. 2 boxes of software ought to be good for several months of mental gymnastics! Carolly

Also V2 and Judy, isn't it? The DAZ AtoZ set for V2 is quite effective, but I haven't checked stuff with Judy.

And after a quick check... V2 and Judy are mostly compatible for textures. Some materials have slightly different boundaries -- the tongue and the inside of the mouth for instance -- but the really huge difference is in the way the eyes and eyebrows are done. There are extra materials, and the UV mapping of the eyes don't match at all.

Which is why I'm so glad that the new family have their own textures. Getting and making new textures is better than hand-me-downs which don't quite fit.

2 Boxes? I've got so many learning curves going on in my head it's like a bundle of cotton candy exploded there! ;) I'm still learning ZBrush 2 and making morphs for all these nifty new people! I wish I knew how to make body morphs. I'm still learning head and face morphs.

Judy+EJ takes V2 textures. I have proved that to myself by experience, probably tested 10, all worked. I don't know about Judy without EJ. ::::: Opera :::::

IRC, EJ was remapped specifically to be more compatable with V3 textures than the "out of the box" Judy model. mike

Damn, would have been nice if that were true so we'd have something to play with until the James specific textures start showing up.

Would definately like at least 2 new textures for James so he doesn't always look the same.
