Subject: Need Windows Movie Maker help for a Poser (unrendered) animation clip

A_ ( ) posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 8:22 AM · edited Sun, 19 January 2025 at 11:51 PM

Hi, I made a nice little animation using good old Poser 4. the thing is, I used lots of light, V3, high res textures, hair, and everything's moving. so my PC could not (or would not) render a movie. so instead i rendered the frames as jpg files. now I realize I have no idea how to make a movie out of all these jpg's! can anyone direct me to a link to how i can do that in Windows Movie Maker?

Hi A_

Your friend Operaguy here. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help you with WMM (I don't know anything about it) but if that fails, I am way up the learning curve on knowing how to do it in Quicktime Pro ($29.99) Mac or Win.

Let me know if you want that alternate idea.

It's clumsy, but I think you can do it.
Start with File: Import. Browse to your
files, then open all of them by pulling the
mouse with shift-ctrl in the usual way.
The images will appear as "clips".
Do Edit: Select All, then File: Save Movie.

For what it's worth, there are several
free apps that will do the job easier.

Google for Image Sequence Freeware
and you'll probably get some. I use VideoMach from Gromada.com. It's shareware, but you get a free evaluation period.

thanks Opera and ockham for your replies. Opera - maybe in the long term I will get Quicktime Pro.. right now I can't because they don't seem to sell to my country. ockham - I tried that in Windows Media Player, and somehow I even managed to import the audio file I had prepared for that clip. the only problem is, the animation turns out way too slow. i created the animation as 180 frames with the intention for it to be 22 frames per second. that would have been something like 8 seconds. instead, it is now 22 seconds long! I looked at Tools-->Options in Windows Movie Maker, and it seems that the lowest time it would accept for Picture duration is 0.125 seconds and Transition duration is 0.25 seconds. so I don't know how to make the movie in its original speed. maybe i'll try searching google for a freeware. it was nice seeing the animation move, anyway. ;)

Try VideoMach. It's extremely flexible and powerful!

i use JASC animation shop which cAMe with paint shop pro 7. this (IMO) is better anyways as you dont get any artifacts in your vids by doing it the way you are... very clean ann clear.. the animation shop might have a trial version avail. they are now corel software if ya google it... Ive had very good luck with it, and it's UI is easy, very fast, and error free. raz~

You can also get a free 30 day trial of PhotoImpact10 which includes GIF Animator5. It will do Gifs but it also does/saves as AVI if you want. I have PSP also, but I prefer the AnimatorProgram in PhotoImpact.

I mostly use VirtualDub for changing image sequences to movies. It's free.

As do I. It can read JPEGs, BMPs, Targas, and PNG files.

Ajax, in case you missed it, Avery Lee released version 1.6.5 yesterday.

Go with Animation shop that comes with Jasc paint shop pro and you won't go wrong. Easy to use and great results.

Animation Shop is okay when I'm working with short segments. But I wouldn't recommend it for 1000+ frames at 640x480, unless you have a lot of memory and a very fast processor.

A_, You can speed up your animation in Windows Movie Maker very easily. Under "view video effects" you have the effect "Speed Up, Double". Just drag that icon to each frame to double the speed rate (note: you can drag/drop it as many times as needed on each frame to increase the speed). You already found the duration settings, so just do the math and set those up for half the speed you need, and then use the video effect to bring it to where you want. SWAMP

btw, have you guys seen A_ s characters for V such as Earwyn, Robin, etc. She is one of the only ones who knows how to turn V's default lifefless face into compelling visage. Salute A_ ::::: Opera :::::

ok, me again. :) i created my movie using Windows Movie Maker with SWAMP's help. but it was still very awekwards, so i decided to give VirtualDub a go. so i downloaded VirtualDub and re-created my movie in this cool lillte program. :) now i have another problem - i want my audio to repeat itself in a loop. but i don't know how to do that in VirtualDub. i did manage to load the audio (a small wav file), but i can't make it a loop. anyone knows how to do that?..
