The best way to do that is to use User settings.
increase the Min number of rays (the value depends on the type of materials in your scene)
increase the Quality factor of volumetric lights (if you are using them)
increase the Render Quality factor to 90% of more (in Render Options). I don't remember the exact name of that parameter - it is the one that is greyed out in every mode except user. Of course, quality will come at the cost of time.... but then again, who said you could have both :)

I saw a thread like this posted on CGTalk and was wondering the same thing. I have VueI and I'm still getting some noise in my renders even at the Ultra setting. For the project I'm doing I need a crisper 3D look like I use to get with Bryce years ago. Any setting suggestions? Thanks
