TaltosVT ( ) posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 9:07 PM

My wife says they are some sort of mushroom, but she can't remember the name.

tibet2004uk ( ) posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 10:01 PM

Ah! That's what Laurent suggested too actually! If that's what it is, I never saw such 'shrooms before! Are they edible?

gunsan ( ) posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 10:03 PM

In english it is called Field Horsetail These shots are the first that show up early in spring, then they become green and kind of bushy Latin; Equisetum arvense Very common nd in the green form that comes a little later in the spring it is a medical herb, very rich in chisel.

tibet2004uk ( ) posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 10:12 PM

Oh wow!! Thx for that Gun!!! I'm impressed at all the info here!! I never saw those before!! What's "chisel" though??

gunsan ( ) posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 10:15 PM

Sorry, it is silicon in english

tibet2004uk ( ) posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 10:21 PM

Silicon??? Like what they use for breasts implants?? O_o

gunsan ( ) posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 10:36 PM

Maybe it is silica then, my dictionary said silicon. Anyhow, it is an essential ingredient in our skeletons and bodies.

tibet2004uk ( ) posted Tue, 05 April 2005 at 10:49 PM

Oh!! So they're edible then!? And silicon means silicium in French! weird cos apparently silicium is a metal!! I'm confused!!

What a cool shot Pascale. They almost look like some kind of weird mushrooms. Sweet!!!!....and as i start reading what previous posters has typed....looks like im not the only one thinking they are, LOL.

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

I was going to say Horsetail, but most of ones I see are green. Make a good tincture, like Natures healing stuff.

gunsan ( ) posted Wed, 06 April 2005 at 12:01 AM

These shots of Pascale are the early form of the green ones

Informative thread :) I saw these growing by the side of the road the other day and wondered what it was.

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.
