hi guys. i feel like i'm close to being done with this image, but i just get it quite the way i want. i was trying to show my dream in this one.

i always did this when i was a kid...look out a window and imagine that there was another world there...that all i had to do was step thru, and I'd be there.

i've worked on this image a long time trying to achieve that dream i used to have, and i feel like i'm so close, but something's not right.

i've been using the retouch tool, increasing saturation in that window, changing hue, etc...trying different things.

you guys have any suggestions for improvement? you like either of these? thanks a bunch guys!

eeeeeek don't think I am the one to help with dreamy shots. I like the first one all the same tint :) sorry that prob doesn't help loads !

We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

I think you're on the right track. If it were mine to do, I copy the two separately, and paste each into a new image, and do all most post work separately.

If I had a copy of the original I might be able to suggest more, but I'm limited with this version here.

I did manage to turn the inside of the building into a gray-scale image, and the window are I enhanced, then pasted the two back into the original. I won't post the results, I'm not pleased with them. Again, this image is too low in resolution for me to do much with.

I'm really interested in seeing how you make out with this. It's a lovely idea and subject matter.

Sheila, This looks like an awesome place to hang out & take pics! Photo op's a plenty here... WOW! I like what you've done so far and lean more towards the 2nd version! I like the coloring of the woods outside the doorway. This sets it off from the rest of the room (more than the 1st one) to me. Make its seem like a portal to a fantasy land. If you have the Virtual Photographer plug-in, I highly suggest experimenting with the Ambience and HALO settings! All I can say is WHOA! It might just give you the look your trying to get! If you want me to post some examples...let me know! L8r! Joe

I don't see how anyone could help here Sheila since ur dream is in YOUR head and u're the only one to know how it looks like and how it should look like! Know what I mean?? I like the first one better here, it looks very surreal to me! Don't know what u want to achieve exactly though so I won't give any advice on this! I'm just waiting to see the final result and ur vision completed! ;)

Oh Danny I love that!! How did u do it???

TaltosVT ( ) posted Thu, 07 April 2005 at 7:30 PM

For me, the only thing that keeps it from being dreamlike is the picnic table on the left. The rest of the image is really incredible, but the picnic table kind of grounds the whole thing in reality. -Taltos

Well as Pascale said, its hard to give any advice without knowing how your dream looks. But i have to say that i just loooooooooove that first one. That one is soooo beautiful, way better than the second one. That is only my opinion though. And even though danobs lights are really awesome, i dont think they fit this one. I say you should go with the first one and not change a single thing about it!!!!!! Awesome capture Sheila!!!! Very moooooooody indeed!!! Oooops...me rambling...how come i always get like that when im at work...sigh...work sucks...gotta work 12-hour shifts boht saturday and sunday...sigh..off topic i know. Sorry ;o)

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

thanks so much guys for all your input and suggestions!!! Danny, i appreciate you doing that, but more light is not the idea that i had. thanks for taking the time to think about it and trying that light effect on my image! Joe, oh man that place is an absolute DREAM to hang out & take pics!! kemal & i have picnics there from time to time. Thanks for the tip, Joe! Yeah, i used Virtual Photographer on this one!!!! you're more than welcome to post any examples! you're always welcome to do your magic on my pictures!! Taltos, you're absolutely right about that picnic table, and i guess that's why i like it there! it DOES signify reality, and that open door is like a portal to another world!!!! so i have to keep it to show the world of reality and the world of dreams!!!! and to the rest of you guys...thanks a BUNCH for all your input and suggestions!!!! Sounds like everyone prefers the first one. i do like it and just did a little bit of playing with it last night...just changed a little of the color. i like this version too!!!! well, we shall see, but i think this little bitty change hits the spot for me!

Zacko ( ) posted Fri, 08 April 2005 at 11:39 AM

Well...ignore my previous statement...YOU ARE RIGHT!!! I think too, that this one looks better. Its such a subtle difference yet noticable. Well done!!!
