Attached Link: Major Poser Character Modeling Opportunity For Tolkien Trilogy...

Tolkien Fans probably already know: The book of the 20th Century is about to become the motion picture event of the 21st Century. J. R. R. Tolkien's groundbreaking epic of good versus evil, extraordinary heroes, wondrous creatures and dark armies of terror will be presented in a trilogy of feature films. The Fellowship of the Ring - December 19, 2001 The Two Towers - Holiday 2002 The Return of the King - Holiday 2003 New Line Cinema's production of The Lord of the Rings marks the first time an entire feature film trilogy is being filmed concurrently with the same director and cast, making it one of the longest, most massive and most unique productions in Hollywood history. ************************************** Guess there will be lots (MORE) of "Look's Like Gandalf" and etc. characters. Have seen some already...

New Line Cinema will unveil the first theatrical teaser trailer for the trilogy on January 12, 2001. The trailer will be attached exclusively to prints of New Line's thriller, Thirteen Days. *************************************** Not a bad deal, as "Thirteen Days" is an excellent movie...

Now we just need to convince someone to make a series of movies of the Raymond E Feist books:)

Have you guys seen the trailer at all? They aired it on TV the other day and OH MAN! The scene where they show the armies massing for battle at the end is stellar. One shot showed hundreds of thousands of Orcs making their way to the Great Battlefield Plains and I must say it blows Braveheart and Episode I's battle scenes away!

I saw the Tolkien Trailer when I saw "Thirteen Days". The trailer is not very long, but offers some exciting potential. The "Lord of the Rings" website also says they will be developing the female characters more than the original books, so there should be something for everyone. Monsters, Epic Battles, Orcs, Wizards, Babes, Warriors- sounds like a "Can't Miss" formula. Should keep everyone in Poserland busy also...

I read the Ring Trilogy as an adult. I've never been so enchanted or absorbed by any fantasy genre tale before or since. If it's not my favorite book{s) it has to be very close. I hope the movie does it justice. I can hardly wait!

Some Quotes From The Website- With realism as their focus, Grant Major and Dan Hennah began designing for The Lord of the Rings almost two years before shooting began. Over 100 locations and permanent sounds stages in Wellington, New Zealand will be used during the making of the movie... A tremendous number of New Zealand artisans have been tasked with the making of realistic props for The Lord of the Rings. They include glassblowers, ceramists, furniture makers, leather artists and metal workers just to name a few. The props are created in two scales to serve the variety of characters on the project, from Hobbit to Gandalf size. Everything from furniture in the Prancing Pony to vegetables in Bilbo Baggins' garden are produced in both small and large sizes. No props or set dressing is rented on The Lord of the Rings set, every piece is created from scratch for the project...

I have been keeping watch on this and so far it looks awesome. The artists that are coordinating the look are Alan Lee and John Howe who are Tolkien guys that know their stuff and have been doing the books and calendars and stuff for years.
