After nearly 2 months of work my first character texture is nearly complete. I think all I have left to do now is package him up. I wanted to get feedback on it from folks here first. Please give honest opinions. Thanks. (eyes are not mine - they're from Lisbeth's great "look up" package). E.D.

Looks exceptionally fine to me. I'm wondering about the seperation between the shoulder cap and bicep/tricep muscle groups, however. I've noticed that M3 has an exagerated "line of demarcation" there and, working around collegiate atheletes on a daily basis, I don't see this extent of differentiation in what passes for the real world. And the musculature of the neck where it flows into the shoulder area seems rather flaired, but then again, he could be posing for one of those "Mr. Olympiad Muscle Magazine" pictures shoots and needs to be pumped and flush, right? I really like this character. You should excuse the pun, but, I think he's got "legs" as they say. Good work...I'll be looking forward to seeing where his eventual outlet will be.

I'm very short of good M3 textures. This looks really nice particularly the hairy front, like a real man should have ;-) probably get shot now for saying that :-( thefixer poser coordinator

Looks very good to me! He's got quite a long neck, but then again, so do I. I like the unshaven look and the hairy chest. Very good bad boy!

That's excellent. I agree with thefixer on the hairy front :)The small amount of facial hair is a nice touch. On thing, it's hard to tell from the angle of the image, does his legs have hair? They look rather smooth in that image.

Very nice. I like the body hair. Esp. the abdomen and hip. Only "crit" coment: edge between dark forehead and light scalp is a bit abrupt. Even working men these days have less "hat burn" then when evreyone wore hats. I don't know that a truly pale scalp works all different hais but for a bald charecter head stubble with a true hairline would be "the bomb". I can't seem to find any goodM3 textures like this...I am looking for a cheap/free one to try a V3male. Nice work though, superior.

Very good! I like the variations in skin tone. Makes him look real.

Wow, thanks for the comments people. 8-) Cedarwolf, I made no changes to the base mike3 model's body. I just morphed his head to more closely resemble the character in my mind. The long neck and larger than average musculature in various parts is due to the way mike3 was modeled. I've been thinking about morphing his body a little bit, as the mental image of my character is not quite that athletic. No, there is no hair on his legs or arms, but I'm thinking I should probably add some. The photo references that I jused had extremely hairy legs, which is probably why his legs are a bit darker than the rest of him. The body hair was painted in using brushes from the marketplace. And, momodot, I think you're right about the head stubble. My "mental picture" is of a purely bald guy, there is no stubble, but I should probably add that in as an option. I appreciate the possitive criticism. I've put a lot of work into this guy, and I don't want to just quit if people think there are some things that could be improved or changed. 8-) pulling out the body hair brushes E.D.

Only fault I see-- that that's a small one-- is around his eyes. Suddenly he looks way too young or had a face lift. Men's eyes tend to be rougher and crinklier than women's-- gives them character and humor. Eyes are a turn-on for me so I always check textures there first. Your character already looks like he has a smile lurking just below the surface so this would perk him up soooo much. Icing on the cake, so to speak. I'd darken top and bottom lid just a tiny bit, in the cooler shades, and give a few fine lines there and then--stick a fork in him cause he looks done other than that.:)) Oops, Columbo moment, one more thing, a lip bump wouldn't hurt either. Or failing that, more fine lines. Extremely good work. Would have said all this sooner, but is the first I've seen of your guy, he's cool. Emily

"I've put a lot of work into this guy, and I don't want to just quit..." Hey, don't make me come in there after you! You absoltutely HAVE to finish this character! He's too good! I've been looking at M3 since your original post and my response and I understand now that these are actually faults in the original character and I think you've made them work to your advantage. You've done a fine job. Well done !!

Goldfire ( ) posted Sat, 09 April 2005 at 9:32 PM

The texture is quite nice! I like the face also. It is hard to make Mike3's face look really different from every other Mike3 but I had to take two looks at this one to be sure it was M3. Hope to see this out soon!

I think he looks great. I agree that he should have hair on his legs and arms though because he is the kind to be hairy from what we see of his front. If you can, you should offer one texture as is and another one with no hair in his face for those who would prefer that. I love the way you did the hair though and I would use the texture with it but we don't all have the same taste.

"Men's eyes tend to be rougher and crinklier than women's-- gives them character and humor" Oh, that's good to know! I must have plenty of character and humor then, lol! ;] Fish

Thanks for the possitive feedback everybody. I really appreciate it. There are several options with this texture. I have completely smooth versions (body and face), as I used layers to add each section of body/facial hair. I wanted to put some tattoos on him, but figured I'd leave that up to others, as taste in tattoos vary greatly. Thanks again. E.D.
