Subject: How to add Color_Texture node in Poser 5.0?Or how to add a texture in general?

Hy there! I am stuck at adding custom made textures to the characters. In Poser 4.0 was so simple , but in Poser 5.0 , altough I will not say it's complicate , you canot find what you need.I have also read the manual but I have not find anything usefull.I know that for adding a texture you need to add a node , but in the drop down there is no Color_Texture node to add , and as far as I have seen , that is the only way to add a texture.Offcourse , I can work around this and add the needed texture in Poser 4.0 , wich automatically creates the Color_Texture node , but I don't think that Poser 5.0 was designed this way... Also , I have tried the image map node , but either I do not use it properly , either it does not do what it must to do.All , the time my character is either shining , either too dark and no matter I do , I canot get it as I do it in Poser 4.0 .Also , all the other characters I have looked at , have this , and only this node Color_Texture.And among them is a character designed especially for Poser 5.0 , wich I don't think was made in Poser 4.0 .Let's say that Poser 4.0 creates that node automatically and the characters that have that node are made in Poser 4.0 , but how about the character that is designed for Poser 5.0 ? In other words , I canot find a way to add a texture to a character and to make it look like it should. Maybe you can help me with this and tell me how you add your own textures to characters , using only Poser 5.0 . Thank you in advance! Best regards!

Poser 6 lets you switch back and forth between the P4 and P5 texture systems. :-)

For P5, use the Diffuse_Color node to add a custom texture or set the color of an object.

If it doesn't look right, post your render and a screen shot of your Material Room settings. People here will be able to tell you what's wrong.

The P5 Material Room does take some getting used to, but it's so much more powerful than the P4 system that once you get used to it, I think you'll like it.

The image is a screen shot of the P5 settings for Don. This is what it usually looks like for a simple texture (no fancy stuff like skin shaders or specularity maps).

If you're asking how to get the color texture box when there isn't one, just click on the "thumb tack" next to the diffuse_color node, and drag out. You'll get a "wire." When you release the mouse button, a menu will appear.

Here's how to add a texture map. Click on the thumb tack, drag out, let go. A menu will appear. Pick 2d textures, then Image_map. A box will appear. Click on Image source, and you'll be able to browse your hard drive for the texture you want.

Here is what I did so far and how it looks.

Hard to tell if there's any difference, because the renders show her at different angles (and possible under different lighting?) What do the settings for the image on the right look like? Can you post those, too?

They look the same to me, considering that you haven't applied materials to anything but the head. What is the problem? One tip - give your texture a more distinctive name than head.jpg. Poser will use the first texture named head.jpg it finds, even if it's in the wrong folder.

Ok , thanks!

I'm confused. The picture labeled 09.pz3 clearly looks as if the entire texture has been applied, lips, eyes, eyelashes body. Did you say you did not do this? Sure looks like they are there. Just as the other figure "how to create a character for Vicki.pz3 looks like just the head, with painted eyebrows. They both have painted eyebrows, I can see that on the texture map. Emily

The one labeled 09.pz3 is a P5 render of a texture that was applied in Poser 4. Everything is textured in that one. It's the other one where only the head texture is applied.
