There's a Japanese Poser Club that has a good gallery and some good freestuff. The pages are all in Japanese, but there is a signup page guide in English, located in the middle of the home page.

Babelfish comes in handy if you don't understand Japanese (even I cannot read much Kanji, mainly Hiragana+Katakana). For IE, you'll have to set the language (View->Text Encoding) which might require adding Japanese to your Windows language setup. MacOSX - automatic. ;)

nruddock ( ) posted Sat, 09 April 2005 at 4:16 PM

You need to allow cookies, or if you already are, delete the old one and login again.

Gareee ( ) posted Sat, 09 April 2005 at 4:20 PM

You need to register, and when you get the register screen. click the small icon above the box.. I think it's a confirmation acceptance. Then you need to log on (entering your nick and pass on the front screen, and yer good 2 go. Not much there, but interesting to browse through...

Maybe you should turn off your webcam ?

Hmmm... The Attention Please sign says: "If you can read this, then you must be Japanese. We regret to inform you that your "cockie" no workee."

lmckenzie ( ) posted Sat, 09 April 2005 at 8:14 PM

Tips: Hover your mouse pointer over links and look at the status bar. For some reason, the status text is usually in English on most Japanese sites. If you use Babblefish or some other webpage translator, keep the original page open in another window. The links in the translated page often won't work correctly. Find what you need and then click the link the the original un-translated page.

I keep getting attention please.

I tried to download. Got that "attention please", clicked the button which I assume means "ok", was taken to another page where I assume you register.

I entered the following:

user name
password
confirmed password
email address

then scrolled to the bottom and clicked the button.

Was taken to what looked like forums. Clicked download, tried to download something and got "Attention please" again.

I think it registered my user name because my name shows on the left side menu.

Edit: Oh well, I give up. I didn't really need those backgrounds anyway.

Acadia, try going back to the site and click on poser club and then enter your name and password in the area in the picture, that worked for me after getting the attention please message.

Starkdog ( ) posted Sat, 09 April 2005 at 11:23 PM

Oh, The fun I've had on that site. Supposedly it is geared towards non-Japanese speaking Poser users, at least that is what Zock told me. However, there must be something wrong with how they have cookies set up, because I cannot download anything, using IE6, Nutscrape, Mozilla, or Opera. I actually had to e-mail the content author in order for them to send me the item via e-mail. I just wish that Poserclub.JP could use a more friendly setup like 3DCommune, or most other Poser freebie sites with PHP. I am learning all of this website stuff, and plan on having my own site as well; but, I do promise that I will make it Poser-user friendly! -The Starkdog

igohigh ( ) posted Sat, 09 April 2005 at 11:58 PM

It worked fine for me using FireFox but when you click an item to download and the page comes up that says something like "if download don't start Click Here" Don't Wait! Click there before it times out or you get thrown to the Attention page.

lmckenzie ( ) posted Sun, 10 April 2005 at 12:00 AM

Check to make sure that the cookie is actually getting saved. Do a search in your cookies folder. You should have a file something like Username@cgclub[1].txt, where username is whatever you have set up on your system. I believe it looks for the cookie each time you try to download an item so even if you're registered and logged in correctly, if it can't read the cookie then you get the warning screen. Acadia, I see your name listed under newly registered members so if you login as xantor suggests, you should be OK unless it's a cookie problem. You do have to login each time you visit, there's no auto login. I've started using SlimBrowser (IE based) that has a nifty auto login feature.

Ok, clicking on the "click here" instead of waiting for the download window worked :) I picked up the backgrounds on page 1, flowering trees, and the hand bags. I wish there was more Asian related art such as traditional decorate decanters, fans, stand up room screens and such. Interesting site to roam around though. I found out that ???? means the same in both English and Japanese :) hehe

There's several fantastic Japanese sites out there, check out the links page off BatLab's site and ISO's page. And it's fun to find your way around too, also check out some of the French Poser sites out there. Used to be a few German sites but I don't see them around anymore. Not a Japanese site but also check out the Japanese Room set in RDNA's free stuff (I think it's still available..) It was one of their very first free offerings long, long, long time ago.

TRy Honey's site--has some Japanese items. Some others here: http://edogoyomi.page.ne.jp/download/3dmodels/ Zippo at Lab108 has a lot of stuff, some of it Japanese themed, a room tatami floor etc. http://lab108.x0.com/lab108/downloads.html Bat has a pretty gool selection of links to Japanese Poser sites. Some of them may have something useful. It's scattered around though. http://bat.server.ne.jp/index2.html

Acadia, I had the same problem you did when I first registered and I tried so many different ways before I understood that although I was registered, I was not logged in. It is as simple as that and as complicated as that. Now if you go there and login, you're ok. I downloaded everything that interested me in there and I still go there from time to time. I went this morning in fact. France

I love going through the Japanese poser sites, you find a lot of good stuff there. (I only wish the Elis figure were available...) There's also some of the most amazing art in their galleries.

They've certainly taken to the program and can produce some great things with it, Koz's hair, maya Doll etc. The art has often has a different stylistic sensibility to it as well. Now that CL is in with a Japanese company, perhaps we'll see even more stuff from there Some of the German sites do seem to have disappeared. There was one that had great marinelife.
