Subject: A favor to ask

I have a favor to ask of those of you who create .atm, .mat and .vob files and post them for free. I think I should first say "thank you" to all of you who do post free stuff. It is much appreciated and saves making purchases for one shot images :) But, at the risk of appearing ungrateful, could you please indicate what version the freebie is for. I've downloaded a number of them that were posted to work in both Vue 4 and Vue 5. Most of them don't. Not sure if it's how they're being exported or what the deal is. Some don't have the version listed at all. I have Vue 5 on my wish list, but it may be awhile before I can get it. So....until then, I'm stuck with Vue 4 :) On a positive note: I've got a lot of Vue 5 freebies to start with when I do finally get it! :) Thanks for reading.

have you tried the conversion tool? It kinda works sometimes, and others well.........but it might be worth a try for you.I has caused some problems in the past for alot of people, myself included, but it also has helped to.

Might be a dumb question....but where's the "conversion tool"?

Samhain74 ( ) posted Sat, 09 April 2005 at 5:09 PM

It is on one of your Vue 4 disks, just put it in and open it and it should be there "old scene converter.exe" or something to that effect it'll ask you to locate the folder you want to convert,my advice is to put everything you want converted into a seperate folder and only convert that folder as it can make stuff in your Vue library (trees, rocks mats ect.) dissapear,it happened to me and a couple others.I am still fairly new to it all so it may have been my fault but this is what i do,i just put everything into a seerate folder on my desktop and convert.Good luck.

I would guess that would work with versions earlier than Vue 4, but I have my doubts it will work to convert a Vue 5 object to a Vue 4 one. But....I could be wrong.

That's correct sandoppe...you can NOT go backwards. Also, before using the conversion tool BACKUP!!!!! I used it & it was a total nightmare. I had use Vue4 to save. Ihad quite a bit of Vue3 stuff.

You aren't a dope o.O...you just didn't know :)....I think of out of 2K-3k items the converter only correctly did maybe 8-10!!! The rest - it took all my items albeit atmos/mats etc down to 2k!!! Thank God I had backups :)...of course some others might have had different experiences...

In addition, in the manual it states(I learned this after my crisis) it's written by a 3rd party & E-ON does NOT support it. At least who ever wrote it did give it a try.
