Outstanding...can't wait to see the details on exactly how you did this....this looks as good as what I've seen terregen do with shore lines. BRAVO!!!!!

Oh man that looks great! IMHO Terragen does a fair job if viewed from a distance, but not like this.

You do pretty work!

dburdick ( ) posted Mon, 11 April 2005 at 12:26 AM

Looks fantastic - the function mats for the caustic-like water material are particularly good.

This looks sooo fantastic! But I guess it is only possible with V5 Infinite, right? Can't find the input node stuff in Vue 5... Any ideas whether something similar could be achieved there, please??

dlk30341 ( ) posted Tue, 12 April 2005 at 5:06 PM

There is a node editor in Vue 5...just go to the adavnced tab when in looking at your material :)

Ms_Outlaw ( ) posted Tue, 12 April 2005 at 7:31 PM

I seem to be dense, even with pictures, I don't get it. ~L~ I can do the input/ object below and add filter map part, but when I try and add the wave thing it cuts off the first part...

Pollee ( ) posted Tue, 12 April 2005 at 10:23 PM

Please, where can I find seavue? I'm having terrible luck locating it.

Ms_Outlaw ( ) posted Wed, 13 April 2005 at 12:51 AM

It's for sale at 3dcommune http://3dcommune.com/

firebolt ( ) posted Wed, 13 April 2005 at 4:06 AM

The problem is not so much the node editor itself, but in there (V5 Esprit), I can't see any option for adding a node of type "Input" and checking any available node type, I didn't find any function called "distance from object below" or similar. Please tell me I'm just too stupid to find it and it's there somewhere ;-) (and where) instead of being a new node type with Infinite :-(

From the Vue product comparison chart on e-on's site:

New SmartGraph input nodes: screen position, angle of incidence, distance to camera, distance on ray, depth in object, distance to object below, incident light angle, light direction, light color, reflected direction, etc

Is listed as not available in V5E or V5Pro Studio, but V5I only

I have V5(p) & there was a node editor.

dlk, the node editor was introduced with v5e, but based on the info on the e-on site, it looks like they increased the number of available nodes in v5I. Above image shows the various node classes and the input nodes. I may download the V5E demo, just to find out what is/isn't available. -- Mark

ic.....LOL...I've haven't seen that part of the node editor....I've only used the pics to the left o.O...LOL Thanks :)

firebolt ( ) posted Thu, 14 April 2005 at 8:01 AM

Thanks for the info. At least I know now definitely - another reason to badly need Infinite. walks off to feed piggy bank

dlk30341 ( ) posted Thu, 14 April 2005 at 8:59 AM

I should add my ignorance of the node editor(obviously) would explain why all my nodes are never connected & all just floating around by themselves.
