Subject: converting bw line art to a colored picture

Hi everyone.... today I tried converting bw line art to a colored picture with no sucess.....does anyone have any hints? thanks! Deidre

Howdy! It depends on what you are trying to do do. Are you trying to create a true line art drawing into something like a cartoon cel? Or are you trying to create a 4-color image from a B/W grayscale image? If it's the first one, piece of cake! If it's the second, beaucoup color correction problems. (And Solutions) Something like this?

Hi , thanks for the speedy rely. Would like to take the bw line art like in your example 1 and make the lines themselves different colors also to change the background into a multicolored one. I think I can acheive this by some masking or layers but so far have not found out an easy solution. Deidre

There are a number of ways to do that. With this one I made selections, saved them, used quick masks and layers. Like I said, there are alot of ways to do it in PhotoShop.

Hi! this may seem obvious, but I'll state it (from hard-learned experience): make sure your black and white art is in a color mode, like RGB or CMYK.
