hmm...the only thing i read are the posts in this forum..sigh...im so unculturized (is that even an english word..sigh...maybe i should study the dictionary at least, LOL) ...i did however manage to read Lord of the rings...twice...makes me pathetic huh?

How come we say 'It's colder than hell outside' when isn't it realistically always colder than hell since hell is supposed to be fire and brimstone?

Very cool!! I love books so much!!! I dunno how many we've got but I'd say at least 1000 or so! All over the place! I eat them! Hehe! And yes Sheila, this one is pretty cool, fascinating even! I love mysteries and ancient secrets and stuff like that! ;) Doug, it would be cool to know what ur book's about!? Joseph, that top magazine seems very interesting! A scary subject! Pat&Damia, cool collection u're having there! Ted, did u say mystery??? Oooooh! I love the sound of that! Joe, I totally love National Geographic!! As for the comic books, are they collectors? Sheila, Tolkien, King, Castaneda, Harris, yes! Love all of them too! Nikki, I just love that wallpaper!! It's actually the first thing that stroke me when I saw ur pic: how cosy this room is!!! It reminds me of my Grandma's house!! I love it! As for all the classical, I've read them a long time ago and just can't be bother with them anymore! I find them very boring! I still love Balzac and Zola mostly and Rimbaud.

Hi...I am currently reading this book. Also I recently read Hesse's "Narcissus And Goldmun". Out of the two I think I like the latter better. There are not as many big words for me to look up for one thing..lol. Sheila...It is interesting you are currently reading the Narnia Chronicles by C.S. Lewis. Just this week I read two for the first time of my life; "The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe", and "The Magician's Nephew". Both are wonderful and I must read the rest of the Chronicles. We must be on the same wave length even though mine are slower to catch up. I've also read one other book by Lewis called "The Screwtape Letters". One of my favorite books I've ever read is "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. I will stop now, but I like books. :-)

tibet2004uk ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2005 at 6:35 PM

Those Narnia Chronicles sound very interesting to me!! Gonna have to have a look at this! I'm not a fan of Hermann Hesse I must say! And yea, the Alchemist by Coelho is a pretty cool book!

Yes, you must check out those Chronicle books! Also I am not a big fan of Hermann Hesse either, but that's what I am reading at the moment. Interesting enough though, and I am about 2/3 the way through so I have to finish it now...

Oh! Struck it is then I guess! From strike! I find it striking! U see?
As for boredom and the universe to explore, I DID explore the classics in litterature and that's WHY I find it boring now! I would never say that something is boring before I actually try it! But this is a matter of taste, of course!

@Pascale I don't have the REAL collectable comic books anymore...I did when I was a kid! I had some that are now worth thousands...but back then... I want a GUITAR!!! Soooo... I sold 'em all! The guy who bought 'em is probably RICH now though! (BIG DOH!) I recently picked up THIS little treasure for my daughter at a donation/charity center! It's from 1944 and I bought it for just .89 cents! Not sure if it worth anything...but we enjoy reading it and the cool artwork inside! L8r! Joe

tibet2004uk ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2005 at 8:41 PM

OMG!!! That was a dumb thing to do if u ask me!! Geez!! O_o And that book is from 1944!! Oh man!! Do NOT sell that one huh!!! U're having a 'lil treasure here!! I buy books sometimes that are totally unreadable (old bibles or church stuff) only because they're very old! (1700-1800's). I have about 2 of these and even though I would never read that, I treasure them! They're pieces of art!! Joseph, I hear ya!! Good to know huh! ;)

Jeff, i LOVE Herman Hesse!! If you haven't read Siddhartha by him, you HAVE to!! It's lighter reading than his others i think! I really think it has something to do with us being born on the same day! LOL! I've only got a few more pages to finish The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe. I LOVE to read...just not much time so i read at a snail's pace now! Damia (welcome aboard BTW) & Jack...i see you're both sci-fi fans!!! whoo-hoo! Nikki, i LOVE so many of the authors you mentioned!!!!! I've never heard of William Horwood though. Pascale, we have similar tastes in so many things! i do love the classics though. but i read so much of that my whole life. i used to keep a wish list of books i wanted to read. it was 5 single-spaced typed pages. LOL! life is too short! Joe...hang onto that book! I LOVE National Geographic BTW! i used to subscribe to soooo many magazines...Utne Reader, Nat. Geo., Discovery, etc. Now i just read Nat. Geo. online. no time anymore. well, we do get Popular Science & read that one. cool thread Pascale! i used to collect books too. i ended up giving most of them away because we moved from our house to a tiny apt. ah well, that's life!

tibet2004uk ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2005 at 10:03 PM

Ah yes Sheila, I like classics too, some of them, but I don't read them anymore as I read too many of them and find them kinda boring now! I too used to have a list of the books I wanted to read! Now I have a list of the books that I've read and there's actually 15 pages full so far! ;) I read Siddharta but it was a long time ago and maybe I should read it again!

coolj001 ( ) posted Sat, 16 April 2005 at 3:53 AM

Pascale...Actually I think I may have Obsessive Book Disorder. I admit sometimes I will not finish a book...like Moby Dick. I must finish it! Sheila...Thanks. I just made a note to get myself a copy of Siddhartha. I am now very curious and must read it! I'll let you know when I do this... Also if you don't have much time maybe you should read like a rabbit instead of at a snails pace. Just kidding. Sorry, I couldn't resist saying that :-) -Jeff :-) p.s. I am a sci-fi fan too.

tvernuccio ( ) posted Sat, 16 April 2005 at 12:53 PM

yeah, Pascale...i know what you mean...i've so many of them too, and i'm verrry picky about what i read now 'cause i don't have much time. 15 pages!!! You go girl! i usually HAVE to finish every book i start too. Hmmm!!! Moby Dick...that's the exception. i never finished it. i KNOW it's a classic and supposed to be awesome but i just found it boring. i hate to admit it. Jeff, Read like a Rabbit!!! LOL! Did you know kemal's nickname for me is "Bunny", "Bunny Rabbit," or "Rabbit?" LOL! i would LOVE to read more and to read faster, but i'm SPINNING in this world as it is!!!! i rarely sleep more than 6 hours a night...usually less. just not enough time for everything. sigh. Hope you'll like Siddhartha!!
