Subject: Nun Outfit

shante ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2005 at 7:32 PM · edited Sun, 22 December 2024 at 8:43 PM

I am looking for a good nun outfit for Vicki 1/2. Not like Penny Dreadful but a realistic old fashoined humble Woman Of The Cloth outfit. I recall there was one offered here in the store when Vicki 1 or 2 was first released and I should have gotten it then but didn't and now that I need it it does not seem to be in the store. If anyone knows of such an outfit or the name of the original artist who offered it here in the store please let me know. Thanks

"nun outfit", isn't that an acronym for NVIATWAS? sorry, couldn't resist... I thought there was non-risquversion of Penny Dreadful?

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2005 at 8:02 PM

Penny Dreadful is the only nun's outfit I know of. It does come with a normal nun's habit, as well as the naughty one.

Another possibility is The Dress at DAZ. The headgear includes a cowl and veil, like nuns wear. The Dress itself is too form-fitting for a nun, but perhaps you could find another dress to use the cowl and veil with.

Is The Dress at DAZ for Vicki 2?

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2005 at 8:09 PM

No, it's for V3.

If you're looking for a nun's outfit for V2, I've never found one. Though I seem to recall that at one point, someone made a free nun's figure. That was from the days of Posette, though.

shante ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2005 at 8:53 PM

Well I don't have much of a memory left but I could swear I saw one in the store here several years ago...before V3 release. I wish I had kept the artist name!

Check the Ghastley's version (sorry, I don't recall the page' adress now, it's 4.30 a.m here). It comes for P4Woman and Vic2, normal version and a naughty one. Quite simple but probably with some good texture work you can make a magic out of it.

He's got some interesting stuff, but it's an older site, and a lot of the models look very low-res by current standards.

He does have a nun's wimple. I thought it was just for Posette, but it looks like he made one for Vicky as well.

shante ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2005 at 10:30 PM

oh yeah..familiar with the site. I loved his Bodage Faeries images in his gallery. very funny. I got the wimple and that's why I am looking for a complete outfit. It is ok but only if you like keeping your sweet demure nun buck naked from the neck down. Finding a good gown is rough! As much as my curiosity prompts me to want to see a demure nun that way I need her dressed and...well...at LEAST looking demure...for this render. LOL

Well, if you have the wimple then all you need is a loose dress.

If you can use dynamic cloth, maybe the priest outfit at Poserfashion.net?

http://www.poserfashion.net/swordbearer.htm

You'd have to scale it a bit, and you wouldn't need all the pieces. But the robe and tabard might make a passable nun's dress.

If it has to be conforming, I dunno. Conforming clothing tends to be tight and fitted. Perhaps the Biblical dress at Poserworld? Re-textured, of course.

Berserga ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2005 at 11:04 PM

The regular version of the dreadful habit is very well done and realistic, also the kinky outfit can be used as seperate peices in various Sci-fi get ups. all in all it's a great package.

shante ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2005 at 11:27 PM

Is the PoserFashion outfit for V2? Come on guys...Vicki 2 is the character I need this for not Vicki3. I have V3 but don't like her So I deinstalled her and went back to V2. The dreadful habit is for V3. Though i ove it I can't use it...unless there is a V2 version?!

lmckenzie ( ) posted Fri, 15 April 2005 at 11:42 PM

Look under Dresses. Ghastley has the habit as well, one regular and one naughty.

Sorry, he doesn't really seem to say whether the habit is for Vicky or Posette. It seems to conform to Posette better but it's not perfect on either of them. With judicious hiding of body parts and a little magnet work and scaling it may work for you, depending on the pose. Your best bet may be using the V2P4 figure since her body is going to be completely covered anyway.

Skirts and stuff are difficult, and the traditional look maybe isn't easy to do with one of the long-dress models, because the shape of the top may be wrong. Posette, at least, there do some to be some dresses with a more plausible top. Look for terms like "peasant" and "country". And it may not be too hard to combine two dresses, top of one and bottom of the other, by turning components invisible. I know a little about medieval clothes, via friends who are into the SCA and more serious reenactment, and rather a lot of stuff out there is a bit too much Hollywood-fantastic, for modern actresses wearing modern undergarments.

randym77 ( ) posted Sat, 16 April 2005 at 5:39 AM

PoserWorld has the Biblical dress for Posette, V1/2, and V3. The image I posted is V2. They have a lot of historical clothing, and support a wide variety of figures.

The PoserFashion.net outfit is for M3, actually, but it's dynamic, and it's very easy to fit dynamic clothing to other figures. (There's a step by step tutorial explaining how at PoserFashion.net.)

I tried the ghastly and I did like the habit but the whimple was skin tight against the clavical :)

lmckenzie ( ) posted Sat, 16 April 2005 at 9:36 AM

I hear that's the way they're wearing them this season.

LOL Thread Grinch...Thread Grinch!! Nice renders..but it doesn't help me with my immediate problem Wolfie! LOL

wolf359 ( ) posted Sat, 16 April 2005 at 8:25 PM

consider this: Reinstall your DAZ V3 and buy the penny dreadful set from the marketplace here it comes with premade character sets that autload fully dressed/textured from your poser library the one called "penny pious"(pictured above) is fully dressed in traditional Nuns garb So you can avoid the leather fetish crap altogether. and as you can see Vicky 3's problem shoulders are covered by this outfit BTW have you tried your P6 yet??? I ask only because you told me you preordered and many of the Mac version CD's from CL were defective and would not mount.

Yeah man. I tried loading it and it seemed to mount and go through the preliminary install protocal. Seems ok. What problems exactly? I still haven't decided which Mac to get: the Mini to use for On-Line and e-mail/print work and reposition the old iMac to rendering work or to go with the new 20" iMac maxed out for the rendering and illustration work and leave the old one where it is. As soon as the tax money comes in its gonna be decided one way or another as well as Cable! Buy Penny Dreadful you say!? :) BTW what character did you build your avatar on...and was it done in P6?

" Yeah man. I tried loading it and it seemed to mount and go through the preliminary install protocal. Seems ok. What problems exactly?" Many Mac users reported that their Cd Drive just spit the disc back out everytime But if you were able to see the disce and installer etc. you're green and have Good discs.!!! Ibought the upgrade from curiouslabs website for $129 and downloaded the 650 meg DMG plus the shadle LE DMG . "BTW what character did you build your avatar on...and was it done in P6?"
