Hello people. I would like to share this little teaser trailer that I made. The full movie will be released in around 3 months. Unfortunatelly I am working alone (my team dropped the project so I am the only one doing it now...). <---signature---> Free your Maya Opaque3D http://www.digital-opaque.net

Very cool. It been another nice day and I have been doing nothing but moving a clicking a mouse. Are you working on a deadline or can you take as much time as you want? Im trying to make a July first deadline, but I will have only two weeks to ad sound and editing on a 15 minute short. Ah, ship, one of my computers just crashed. Out of Memory. Dale

I see we are both very busy...

I am not working on a deadline. I am hoping to finish in 3 months but the amount of work is incredibly big and me working alone doesn't help much. Anyway, any chance we see what you are doing?

I think you have to join Lulu to see this. http://www.lulu.com/content/112037 I put this up because the young girl who did the voice wanted to see how it was coming along. That was some time ago. I have only about 30 shots to go. I did 8 in the last two days. Dale

Well I watched the video. It makes me wonder what the film is about, hehehe. It's fun to see how school hunts you even to the farther reaches of the universe LOL <---signature---> Free your Maya Opaque3D http://www.digital-opaque.net

looks interesting nemirc. i had a project i was working on a few years ago using poser and bryce... but since i too was working alone, i dropped it so i could take more time to learn to make a better product rather than eat my time doing finals id hate a year later. lol. tell me, whats your end-game? for realease online or a shortfilm entry? or for a demo-reel/portfolio?

tufif ( ) posted Tue, 19 April 2005 at 7:32 AM

That looks great Nemric, what software did you render it in?
I'm finally making progress on my cell shaded project again. I have all of the character animation finished and I'm just putting together the shots.

Bobasaur ( ) posted Tue, 19 April 2005 at 10:49 AM

Working a complex project by yourself can be really difficult. Please let us know when it's done. Maybe we can have an online premier party. We could all get online at a specified time while wearing our Tuxedos and drinking shots of tequila. Or orange juice (which actually tastes far better than tequila).

Twisted, don't think I've never thought of dropping the project... it's my "filmmaking spirit" what keeps me going (and also the fact that I wanna prove myself). Part of these shots will be used for my demoreel. I think recruiters can use "human like movements" for a change... all I see lately are jumps, swings, kicks and maybe this will be a good change LOL. tufif, everything you see is maya software render. No GI and all that since I can't afford to spend one year on rendering. Post the cellshaded project up when it's ready :) Bobasaur, I am still thinking on the "distribution". I don't know if the final video will be too big for the internet. Well, I'll figure that out when I am finished, hehe. BTW, I hate tequila... I preffer red wine :) <---signature---> Free your Maya Opaque3D http://www.digital-opaque.net

One of these day's I'll finish my big video. Sigh. I've wondered about distribution as well. I started it with "non-commercial" items in it so I can't sell it. I'll certainly post a link here but I'm not sure where else. The tough thing is that ideas have come along since I started it that I'd love to work on but I promised myself I wouldn't do anything else that was even remotely big until this was done so they're on hold for the time being. I did participate in the Animation Gallery opening animation contest ("Get Plugged In") though. And I'm keeping my eyes out for other contests here as well.

[grin] If I could use the software I already knew I probably would have done it. However, to learn a new piece of software and then try to come up with a contest entry was just too much.

I once was in a motocross race where I won a trophy for fifth place. One guess on how many racers there was. Dale

Its that obvious? I loved that track; it gave out trophies for last place. Im beginning to wonder if anyone who reads this forum actually does any animation at all. I think that their afraid that their animation work will not be good enough or laughable. Dont worry, I just watched Taxi and nothing anyone post here will be as bad as that thing trying to pass its self off as a movie. Dale

Bobasaur ( ) posted Wed, 20 April 2005 at 9:09 AM

I've got stuff in the Animation Gallery. I don't have any recent things though.

I've got something in the animation gallery. I have a few smaller things I should put on there as well. I'm waiting until I finish my current project, then I'm going to put together a website for all of my animations. Rendorosity should set up the animation gallery like the other galleries with comments and everything. That would offer more encouragement to submit.

nemirc ( ) posted Wed, 20 April 2005 at 1:21 PM

Well, I don't see why people should think their work would be "laughable". I was talking to a guy the other day and I told him that "an animator isn't born... he's made" (too much Alexander, me thinks). Anyway, those 60+ guys that I put up on the forum are the top animators because they've mastered their craft, not because they happened to be born with some sort of "special gift" that makes them the best ones. Everyone who starts animating will make "bad animations" at first but as he/she progresses the animations will improve. The "animation gallery" idea would be nice. They didn't do it because of the bandwidth stuff. A lot of members downloading 100kb images is one thing but a lot of members downloading a 10mb video is something different. I'll see if I can "convince" them to add some sort of "comments area" to the animation section, though. I think it would be a nice touch. <---signature---> Free your Maya Opaque3D http://www.digital-opaque.net

It would let us get more feedback on our work and help us improve. 3dcommune.com has comments in their animation gallery ;)

gammaRascal ( ) posted Sat, 23 April 2005 at 9:48 PM

theres an animation gallery?

nemirc ( ) posted Sat, 23 April 2005 at 9:58 PM

file_222871.gif

Not exactly an "animation gallery". We are talking about the Animation Outlet (see the sidebar under 'features'). We are discussing that it would be nice to allow users to post comments about the anims put there. I talked to the mods about this the other day and it seems they are interested on the idea, however it is not "nero uno" in their "to do list" <---signature---> Free your Maya Opaque3D http://www.digital-opaque.net

I've actually encouraged it many times over the last few years. Last time I was finally able to get them to create an animation section in the Free Stuff (so it didn't tax their servers). I'd hoped that they'd at least mention it in the main Gallery page but they didn't. they've now got the Animation Outlet going but it's been a slow process. They always sound like they think it's a great idea but you're right in that it's not number 1 on their priority list. Still, progress is progress and I'm grateful for what we have.

Well, it's better than nothing considering that for every animation posted in the outlet we have like 200 images in the gallery... <---signature---> Free your Maya Opaque3D http://www.digital-opaque.net

Yep. I remember when we had nothing. This is definately better. I do hope that someday they enable comments, though.
