The download version of Vue4 is definately good value for money but you better have broadband as it took me about 8 hours to download on a dial up connection! You get everything that would be on the CD except sample scenes and objects. Fortunately for me I had a lot of stuff already from Vue 3.1. If you still feel you need more, you can download the extra content which would give you all the scenes and objects for another 20 pounds but this is a whopping 433 MBs! That's a lot even with broadband.
Just to correct a little.... you cannot just download the extra content of 433Mb, you'll need to buy it foe $29. If I was you I would a couple more weeks to see what DAZ will do with Bryce. Bryce version 5 is similiar to Vue 4 and both of them cost about the same. DAZ is going to release Bryce 5.5 soon and it will be $99, but that includes a lot of content, no need to buy the extra content, it's included in Bryce 5.5 (or 5) already. But Bryce 5.5 if supposed to have some new content that's not in Bryce 5. I'm not sure what your location is, but if you live outsided of the US you should also keep in mind that you're likely to pay taxes when you buy at E-On (about 19% in most cases).

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(
Food for thought.....

I agree to go with Vue 4. I have bryce 5 and all its doing is collecting dust. For me Vue is way ahead of Bryce. Sometimes cost is not everything. It depends on what you going to use the applicaation for. aeilkema if you read a little closer kevin_c did say it would cost 20 pounds to get the extra content and it was a whopping 433 mb's. :)

To answer your original question. Yes, a lot of people use the download version or the boxed one. Go to the gallery and see, a lot of people write what Vue version they use. Bryce. The announcement for 5.5 is out for just a while now. More than a year when i remember it correctly. Who knows when they will (ever) make it. But you always can download a demo version of Vue and see how it goes on your system.

go with vue, atleast it gives you a future roadmap when you do get more money, and e.on always has nice upgrade prices. nothing wrong with bryce but its not better then vue and the development phase is alot slower as weve all noticed and since it isnt cheaper i realy dont see the point in picking up bryce before vue, an slightly inferior product for the same price with a much worse upgrade path.....

I would love Vue 5 but unfortunately really can't afford it, I am thinking of buying the download version of Vue 4, just wondered if anyone is using it and does it differ from the CD version at all.
