This is anton's magick...there are no lights in the scene...just probelight nodes plugged into magic..lights it pretty well huh. The book has the gather node on it...see the purple sparkles? The glow of the fairy tale...that's the translucense setting.

Cool. I haven't experimented with probelight nodes. What do they do?

I've been using probelight effects for a long time -- GF Magick, the Magyrie sets, fireworks, and several more all use the probelight node and some unique settings. Combined with additional effects such as displacement, and then using the morphs for the effects (they've all got so many morphs in them it's frigtening) they allow for some wild stuff. Plus, the probelight allows the magic to do something that isn't possible earlier: render against a white background. This includes my free magic sets -- the Be Creatives pack available at RDNA, and the ODF_Magic set available at Odd Ditty Foundry.

Probelights light an object Ynsaen is right this feature is available in P5. But it does become more powerful in p6 with the gather node.

Also with OPENGL: With full tracking on I started moving the camera around...this might be geeky but it was cool to see stars fly by in real time as I moved the camera through the scene.
