Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 22 9:27 pm)
If you're on a PC you can't allocate more memory to Poser. I believe it's a Mac specific message which may still be hiding in the code. What you can do is alter your swap file size. There's advice on what to do at the CL website. Alternatively you could break up your scene into smaller pieces and composite them in Photoshop afterwards.

Memory allocation and task priority are two entire different beasts. In a preemptive multitasking system like Windows, the task priority determines how long a program gets to execute until the operating system hands over processing to another program.. Upping the priority can allow a program to complete it's task faster but at the expense of other running applications which now receive less processor time. Thus, as Tirjasdyn says, increasing it too much may cause other applications to appear unresponsive since they simply aren't getting enough time to execute. Changing task priority AFAIK, does nothing to affect memory allocation. On the Mac, you can adjust how much memory gets allocated to an individual application so references you see to that are Mac only. Window's memory manager handles memory allocation automatically.

When Poser says "allocate more memory", it's usually a secret code meaning that something else has gone wrong. What's the text of the error message you get? Also, it will probably help to know the version of Poser you're running (I'm assuming when you say P4, you mean Pentium 4 and not necessarily Poser 4).
Hi englishbob, Yes P4 is for Pentium 4 :) and i am runing with poser 6. The text was telling me to allocate more memory to poser and save my work before closing. I had only the prog open and ainternet explorer open to post my render for the April contest. Maybe you can help me about the dimension of the final render that doesn't match my project. If you look at my render in the contest page under name STEFANINO n 12. you will see that the feet are missing when all the figure was complete before render. Thanks for your attention and sorry for my long reply:):) See you soon, Stefano

Poser tell me that i have to allocate more memory to the prog, HOw i can do this? I am running with P4 3000 and 512M of ram. HOw i can set a render to fit all my project without loose part of it? Do i start the project with the effective dimension of my render? (for example 800/600 for the project and then render at this setting) Thnkas to everybody Stefano
