Back up, back up! Yippeeskippy....! -So Far- this has been the smoothest rebuild I've ever had. Just for grins I put the old boot drive on the new motherboard (now this was Win2kPro set up for an Nforce 3 chipset and Geforce 4 Ti-4400, placed on a Soltek K890Pro-939, so this is going from AGP-4x to PCIE-16) and the OS booted, detected all the new hardware, and aside from mispicking the driver for the onboard Promise 579 RAID controller, it installed all the goodies properly. My Audigy Platinum is dead, though ( I suspect that when the previous board went, it took old faithful...and the other cards on the PCI bus with it...), but the Audigy 2 value card I have mostly works (the startup default wave is really bad, but the WinDVD player sounds just fine. More digging is needed), and the apps seem just fine. Now to see if I can finally play with Infinite!

Welcome back :) Rebuilding is fun as long as you don't get into that one little nagging bug that will not let itself be explained no matter what you do.
