Don't you hate it when you miss an incredible shot? I play in the band at Baylor and we played at the Green v. Gold(Baylor colors) scrimmage. We were only told to play two quarters but they didn't get 120 plays in so they went another quarter and the band got to leave. I took my camera and telephoto lense with me and decided to go take pictures on the sidelines. Earlier in the game at the far side of the field a player got knocked completely upside-down but he was too far away for a good picture. I was little disappointed about missing that shot. Most disappointing, though, was the same thing happened again, only this time I was on the sideline and it was about 10 yards away! I'm pretty sure I pushed the shutter release all the way down but the camera didn't take the picture for lack of focus confirmation. I guess I can try again next year, but there are no guarantees.

Well last week I missed one too,that was the hostess of a birthday party going up on a dance platform to have a dance,and she fell off into the cheescake, and then landed on floor with her legs up in air and skirt past her waist.It would have been a hilarious shot.Better video though. Yes she was alright,but embarrased.

aaaagh!! aw, that's bad alright!! I know exactly where you're coming from though. Last Friday I went out to try to get some night shots, but the weather went and rained it off. On the Saturday my stuff was all still in the boot (trunk) of the car - I got 200 yards away from the car and a guy started feeding a massive flock of pigeons from his hand with a nice church in the background.... didn't last long enough for me to run back & get the camera though.....they flocked and flew in about a minute. sigh (",)

photographers and fishermen: both can become obsessed by "the one that got away". In my case, a stork flying not more than 4 feet above a field. Only thing to do is try and do better next time.

after months of storking rooks, even to the point of wearing a black coat and fur collar and one of those beanie hats, only ever managing a reasonable pov shot, or none at all.. one decided to landed close by me the other day as l was sitting by a bank of the river.. set the camera focused in just about to click.. and damn well sneezed..arghhhhhhh.....yep thats my one that got away.. sighes..awww hope you have better luck next year..:)..

I never go any where without my camera, well sometimes I shower without it, but the other night I was walking home from work late at night, and I saw some strange bright colored lights coming from a vacant lot near our house. I raced into positon through the trees to see an alien space ship loading our nieghbors inside the space ship. By the time my camera had decided turn on and focus the space craft had disapperared into the night time sky. I had been waiting my whole life for this kind of shot:(

This is why I must buy a Nikon 70 with instant on and quick focus... Okay my wife didn't buy it either, but it could happen:}

Ok, the shot that never happened when watching a bunch of guys fixing a roof. A lightening storm was coming in strong! I kept thinking, "Get off the roof!" I reached for the camera...it was at the house..ugh. No, I wasn't wanting a lightening strike on those guys but thought "if it did happen....God forbid." And no camera. Well, no person got hit and they got off the roof just as the strikes got close enough to get their attention big time. Funny, they were working on the roof of a church building. No camera, no witnesses. All came out fine. Still, I felt a bit naked without the camera, like some folks must feel without a cellphone.

Bummer! I know we all have stories like that...chin up! :)
