I would try using the smudge tool or the Liquify tool to create a softer look for the feather. Just drag either tool from inside the feather to out, and experiment with the direction you drag. It will create soft edges that gradually taper off. FYI- To get the best results, you'll probably have to remove the outlines from your feathers. Which might mean removing the outlines from all of the elements in your scene, just to keep it unified.
Thanks Retrocity.. i actually just uploaded another image that isnt a WIP... http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=941824&Start=1&Artist=Tsukiyono&ByArtist=Yes This one has the shading done on it because i had a reference image... since the first one doesnt have that, i got to wait till i get a better understanding on that part of painting... i am hoping to buy another of the Gnomon DVDs here soon.. probably within the next month or so. But i have been looking for a place to get comments and stuff at for a bit now, as the place i generally post at isnt heavy into the 2d work, the comments are limited. So please if anyone has any comments.. even on the WIP.. please post them, as i learn well from them. Most of the images i will do coming up, will continue to be fan art from my friend, but eventually she would also like to do her own drawings.. so hopefully i will be able to paint those as well. And eventually i want to get into realism... but i am far from getting there, so for now i will stick with the anime style of work. Thanks for the welcome and i hopt to get some comments as well. Thanks again for the help :)

This is my first time posting here, and this is also one of my first things i have ever done in photoshop as well. Well here is an image that i am working on which i just posted to the gallery here.... http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=940329&Start=1&Artist=Tsukiyono&ByArtist=Yes&Form.sess_id=35718616&Form.sess_key=1114326520 Well i am wondering if anyone would know how i could add a sort of feathery feel to the wings in this image... most preferably the feathers that are free floating. But if anyone would have a link to a tutorial i could look at, or could explain to me how to go about doing this, please the help would be most appreaciated. Thanks beforehand
