Hey my Brother-In-Law runs a beer distributor, I gots the goods. [for those who live outside of pennsylvania, because some farmers long long ago desided that they didn't want to pay taxes on their whiskey PA has some of the strictest LCB laws in the nation. We can't buy alcohol in gas stations and grocery stores like mostly everyone else. We have to have special state run stores (called State Stores - go figure) for the hard stuff, and distributors (stores that only sell pop and beer and some incidental stuff like chips) for beer. and neither of them are open on sundays :,( ] ok thats your civics lesson for today, bring out the Hamster Stripers!

Natolii, and Diane, if you drop by, I did mean to address your earlier point but got distracted by all the hamsters :o) My original post wasn't meant to imply that children are allowed at Renderotica; I'm well aware of your policy around that (as I think most staff here are.) My intention was addressing the two issues of "more sexual content" and "naked faeries" as separate types of image, which are catered for by two very different sites. Sorry if that message came out confused in any way. Karen :-)

I have been working up seven of the elegant waltzes written by Frederic Chopin, as I have a recital of his piano music in early July. Now if there were ever a cure for dictocratic attitude, these beautiful gems could help. No one can hate listening to Johan Strauss or F. Chopin. ::::: Opera :::::

I started this thread on the basis of artistic freedom...at this art community or anyother....I was just stating an opinion and hoping to get some good feedback (opinions). If I understand correctly this is a public communtiy and forum and there for whom so ever posts something, wether it be art or an opinion should be taken seriously. I realize this is a very tired subject....and i am not putting renderosity down for it's policies per se....i just think more time and consideration should be put into what an image is about instead of focusing on the 'questionable' parts of a characters anatomy..... or arguing the age of a fae....i say once again....as long as people continue to submit art that goes against the rules of TOS or as long as someone submitts a piece that may offend someone elses sensibilities, we will continue to see this subject disscussed in the forums.

JenX ( ) posted Mon, 25 April 2005 at 2:21 PM

Trinity7, I do understand the reasoning behind your post, but I want to make it clear that, before we changed the TOS, we did indeed pass over many of the images that are now in violation of the new TOS. However, after many repeated violations by many different members, we adopted the new, stricter, TOS. Also, if we were to judge on the artistic quality of the images posted, that would definitely not be fair. Most people who post in any of the galleries at Renderosity are just beginning and may not have the quality of a seasoned artist. Let me assure you, time and consideration was taken with the new TOS. It may seem as if it were sudden, but it was, at the very least, a year in the making. Cheers, MorriganShadow Poser Coord.

Sometimes what they do is popular and we all love them, sometimes they have to take the hard line. Speaking as one who mods a major board (although not nearly as major as this) they don't have a vendetta against anyone, they're just trying to make it through the day and go have a beer (or Guinness as the case may be) now lets all give Morr a hug and show her we all still love her. "i say once again....as long as people continue to submit art that goes against the rules of TOS or as long as someone submitts a piece that may offend someone elses sensibilities, we will continue to see this subject disscussed in the forums." You mean as long as people continue to try and break the rules they agreed to when joining this site and when uploading an image we will continue to see the forums filled with whiny comments because the arteeests get their panties in a twist when their images are deleted And the mods will continue to get called out when they advocate breaking the TOSes of other sites, seeing as none of you have the balls to respond to Nat's comment Referring people to post child pics at a site with a zero tolerance for any child pics, an act that would get them banned and IP blocked, is an act of gross professional incompetence Even if posted in ignorance at the very least you owe the membership of this site an apology and clarification of your statement

I think you can expect some commentary on the child-like nudity issue (Calling it like it is, because it certainly doesn't merit the pornography tag.) in the next issue of the Renderotica Magazine. I certainly plan to address it on my column because it is still an issue. As long as people are willing to try and push the limits of a website's TOS and then whine when they are caught, we will continue to see this as an issue. The thing is I have an audience that does appreciate the razor line these [sarcasm]brave souls[/sarcasm]cause the rest of us to walk. Yes, the rest of us. They fail to realize it is there own actions that force these changes. Yet, it is EVERYONE else fault. So in the end websites like this one, have to make rules that no one likes. BTW, We at Renderotica enjoy feeding these [sarcasm]Brave souls[/sarcasm] to the good Doctor when we catch them. You see, we work as a community to make sure that we can continue to enjoy those priviledges that Diane, et al... provide. But remember, it is a Priviledge, not a Right.

Anyway, we have a conga-line! That reminds me of an especially memorable phrase uttered by a former Leader of the Opposition here in Australia. He referred to the Prime Minister and his Front Bench as "a congaline of suck holes". I've always liked that phrase (and I happened to agree with his assessment), so I thought I'd share it. Perhaps it can gain international usage. It's such a lovely phrase... ;-) bonni

Just popping in here. Thanks for the clarification about what you meant, karen. I think you and Rubbermatt may have cross-posted.

I would just like to reiterate:

You can post almost anything you want at Renderotica, including fairie pictures as long as nobody in the picture LOOKS under 18 and you can't post bestiality.

The rule about no children, clothed, naked, sexual, non-sexual is one we decided on because of the nature of most of the content on our site. Most of it is erotic, so we got tired of the controversy of people thinking a picutre of a child on our site is automatically child pornography. Why do we say LOOKS? How else would you enforce such a rule? Meshes have no age. The only way it can be done is subjectively. If WE think it looks under 18, it goes.

Now, while I'm not really sure why Rosity has instituted their rule, it's their right to do so. It doesn't impinge on YOUR artistic freedom one bit. You are still free to make all the nude child images you want. Fill your hard drive up with 350 year old naked fairies that look like children. You can even make child pornography if you want. Nobody here or at Rotica is stopping you. We're just stopping you from posting it on OUR sites.

elizabyte ( ) posted Mon, 25 April 2005 at 11:57 PM

Fill your hard drive up with 350 year old naked fairies that look like children. You can also post them at Faeriewylde provided any nudity is strictly non-sexual. bonni

Fill your hard drive up with 350 year old naked fairies that look like children Childish statements from ignorant minds cometh...how sad, and yet they wish to be called 'artists'. What a shame... For one, it is neither a site owner nor a viewer who has the right to declair what a character is and what a character is not. Yes they have a right to declair wether it is aceptable within their 'home' or not, but it is not their right to declaire what it is and what it isn't, for that right is held by the creator and the creator alone...a lesson you all should learn one day, if you ever grow up and out of your childish ways.

DTHUREGRIF ( ) posted Tue, 26 April 2005 at 1:13 AM ยท edited Tue, 26 April 2005 at 1:18 AM

igohigh, nobody is telling you or anyone else what to call their creations or what to think about what it is. We're just telling you that there are certain things we don't allow posted on our site and it is up to us to make the determination if what we see is acceptable in our "home". I fail to see how you could interpret what I said any other way.

BTW, I have nothing against child nudity OR childlike fairies. Nor was I implying that they were pornography. Only saying that as an artist, you have the right to make any kind of pictures you want, including child pornography if you are so inclined. I can't stop you, nor would I attempt to. They just aren't appropriate on my site, considering the context that they would be posted in.

Igohigh, You need to step back and realize that appearence is the qualifing factor here... APPEARANCE... Not however you wish to rationalize it. Appearance is the only thing here. You are coming into someone else's house and breaking someone else's rules, and then are yelling when you are caught. That is the bottom line. I don't care if the faerie is 350 years old or 3500 years old, if it resembles a child in APPEARANCE and is nude, you are breaking the rules. It is that simple. Please stop trying to argue Symantics with everyone here. I'm a Roleplayer and understand the point you are trying to make. I am saying that your point has no weight in this matter. It doesn't matter what the Artist intends, the site makes the final decision. You wish to call others ignorant, yet you are is playing a fair amount yourself in this matter. Artistic freedom is just like freedom of speech. Welcome to the Realm of Fantasy, because in private business neither exist.
