hello, im thinking of buying a new laptop to use with vue5. it has the ati radeon 9700 with 64mb of ram. ive heard rumors that ati cards can be a problem with vue. anyone have any experiance or knowledge of running vue with this graphics card or any ati card? the laptop is a sony vaio s360 (VGN-S360). with centrino pentium m at 1.7 ghz and 1gig of ram. i hope the 1.7 has enough oomph for rendering. im not expecting a speed demon but hope rendering speed will be sufficient. thanks.

I use an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, and it works fine for me. I have a laptop with a Radeon Go5400 in it with 32 MB RAM and Vue 5 Esprit worked fine on it.

As for me, all versions of Vue including 5 Infinite run on an older ATI Radeon 7500C...YMMV

Did run Vue 5 with a Radeon 9600 Pro 256Mb --- Did run awfully slow in OpenGL mode, just not workable at all. Also only being able to work in wireframe mode well was kind of annoying. Since I'm working a lot with Poser figures, I've completely switched from Vue to Poser 6 and P6 works much better in OpenGL and besides that it has great software workframe options, not only wireframe.

Artwork and 3DToons items, create the perfect place for you toon and other figures!

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

I'm using the same graphics card in a pentium 4 laptop. Works fine. Shut down open GL, save file, then reopen before rendering and renders go fine. Some features actualy work better than on my power house PC. I do not know why. Older Mobo I guess.
