Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies
live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to

I found some more on eBay too...but not this specific one yet...I like it's different colors.Kort Kramer - Kramer Kreations
Great results Richard! MMM. What's better than roses on your piano? Tulips on your organ...erm, I mean in your soft studio that is easily erected...erm, I mean.... oh, darn, I'm gonna stop before this gets silly!
(",) EDIT: Hey TeePee (hehe, Teepee, tent, geddit?!?) They're only fifteen squid!!! Jeez. If the 'non-Brits' can't get them, we can probably do them a great deal at around $100 ;-) $70 profit should just about cover p&p, yeah? :-)

He He mikey - I got the manufacturers address ;) [I did look they don't mention stockists in US] Sorry guys I was off playing with it again I could have told you I got it from Maplin's. Rather an unusual place to stock these? They do this one and a bigger one at 35. Posted a shot in my gallery now :)And every one said, 'If we only live,

Strange, they don't list the larger one on their website. Do you know if they ship overseas? And would you say the one you got is a good size for doing most of the close-up work you plan on? I'm not sure what you mean by stockists. :) --Thanks.

Kort the larger version is categorised under Studio Lighting ???? I don't think they know what to categorise them as it is an electronics shop. On the web site it says they ship overseas for additional carriage costs - would probably be best to ask them for a total cost first if you want to order. I think this size is fine for photographing: flowers, ornaments, etc. I will be more than happy to try out my skills with this one, and invest in something bigger if I felt the need. I photographed the tulip from about 12inches away from the front of the enclosure and no problem keeping it against the background. Would not be hard to postwork a bit of extra in round the edge if needed anyway. I was referring to the manufacturers web site when I said they don't mention stockists - www.kingbest.com.tw Richard.

I've seen the cubelites and such, just none as inexpensive as this with different colored backs. Thanks for the info Onslow!

the standard is two lights on either side of it to get a nice diffused light. Plain room light may not be bright enough. You can try other variations though.

Thx Shiela Most people use them with one or two inexpensive halogen desk lamps. Adjust your WB to get the right colours. These shots I have taken today - I put it by a window, no other lights. :)

thanks guys! now i have another question. how do you think i would i adjust my white balance with a halogen light? i can choose from auto, daylight, cloudy, fluorescent, incandescent, flash, one push, or one push set? my manual says to use incandescent when shooting in a studio or under video lights (and also when shooting in conditions where the lighting conditions change often such as a party). incandescent is what i would choose but i'm just not sure if that's right. thanks!! :)
Shoot in RAW mode then choose your white balance when converting the RAW file. One of the advantages of shooting RAW files is to set your camera to auto white balance and then chose the which white balance is best when you convert the file, if you shoot JPEGs then you are stuck with the white balance you chose at the time.
Eggiwegs! I would like... to smash them!
Shiela you are right - halogen lamps are incandescant. So that would be the correct setting.Their proper name is quartz-halogen lamps they are actually burning a small piece of quartz in halogen gas. They burn hotter than ordinary lightbulbs (tungsten burning) so actually give of a slightly whiter light. If you were not happy with the colours on an image you could alter this in PSP later using the Automatic Colour Balance and move the slider to alter the temps of the colours in you image. Richard.
