Subject: One more redundant question (Poser update)

Here I go agai-still having to do with losing most everything on old computer. I thought I had the 4.03 update that can be installed manually somewhere on a backup CD, but haven't found this yet. I've just dled the update from Curious Labs but haven't installed. Anything I should know about this before I install???--or will it be essentially like the one issued from Meta?? That one I remember doing manually after unzipping the files. This reads as though it will be an 'automatic' upgrade. Somewhere I read about someone having problems with all the toolbars afterwards--anything else??--and how to fix that problem if it occurs. TIA, Diane

It should go smoothly. But I can't remember if it resets the UI so save a copy of your layout just to be safe. It's in the prefs folder called "preferredState.pz3" The layout problems were with the previous patch. ScottA

Thanks Scott. Whew!!--I'll be glad when I get my Poser and Bryce all back together again. I'm thrilled with a new machine, but losing my stuff (as it was set up within Poser and Bryce--everything is backed up on CDs--its just wading through all of it and reloading and organizing--LOL) means a lot of time just looking for things and reloading. Well, I have the 4.03 patch and the layout problems are in it. It always goes to factory default, you can't customize the interface. I checked the Curious Lab Tech FAQ and they say it's a bug in the 4.03 patch, and that they're working on fixing it. Soon I hope. :) Greywolf

try manually editing the shortcut so that poser starts in the poser directory

Well, then, does anyone know if the 'other' 4.03 patch is available anywhere?? That was an easy upgrade--just put the various files, etc., where needed.

Does anyone know if Curious Labs finally fixed the following irritating bug that they introduced in the 4.03 patch in the NOW AVAILABLE Pro Pack? Preferred state reverts to the factory state on relaunch of Poser.

Thanks Albertosaurus! That did indeed seem to solve the problem. :) Greywolf

Not that it will help users on the PC side, but the Mac 4.0.3.126 upgrade version does not mangle the UI setup. Just thought I'd mention that for those Mac users who might shy away from the upgrade because of reported problems with the PC version.
