Subject: Any news on P6 Update??

DIMENSION_X ( ) posted Tue, 26 April 2005 at 6:56 AM · edited Sun, 12 January 2025 at 2:23 PM

A whole month has passed since the release of P6.

Does anyone CL know when will be releasing the long awaited P6 Software update to resolve a number issue plaiging P6??

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Tue, 26 April 2005 at 9:07 AM

Nope -- nobody knows.

Or at least the ones that do know aren't saying anything.

I suppose that it'll get here when it gets here.

Next August, maybe.

:(

And we won't know if SR1 will actually repair the memory bug until we see the update.

If all that the first service release accomplishes is to fix a few minor glitches -- and to do nothing for THE glitch -- well..........it won't be a good thing........

P6 will still be wonderful, mind you. But that shiny new Corvette will continue to have an engine that quits at inopportune moments.

Food for thought.....

and of course it will have the a mem bug fix in it..... I am glad to see that someone knows this up front. On the other hand, we'll know what the ACTUAL fact is when we see it. Or when Curious Labs tells us something.

Since it's a "memory bug" CL could have forgot about it... Well, just trying to be funny... I've received my P6 box last week and since then it's been laying on my desk: I don't want to even install it before the issue is resolved...

I've received my P6 box last week and since then it's been laying on my desk: I don't want to even install it before the issue is resolved... Wise decision, did the same. I'll probably return it this week and use the $$$ for a gig CF card for the camera.

Wise? I'm not sure.... why? Since the mem bug doesn't seem to affect everyone. It's there for sure, but I've got to push P6 quite far to even experience it. I'm not the only one who's not being haunted by the bug, but then again others are. But miss out all of the fun because I would be afraid of a bug seems a pity to me.

I would STRONGLY recommend going ahead and installing the program -- memory bug or no.

The memory bug hasn't stopped me from using P6 (and P6 is well worth using).

The only thing that the MB has done is to limit me on the high end. I can't produce scenes of the complexity that I would like to be able to.

But the other side of the equation is that I am extremely pleased with what I can do in P6.

Of course, the MB affects different people in different ways.........

But I wouldn't needlessly limit myself even further by totally missing out on the great program that Poser 6 is.

It just needs a little tweak. Then we'll have it. ;)

Wise? I'm not sure.... There comes a time when the frustration with a company exceeds the satisfaction with their product. Personally, I've reached that point with CL. I expect a glitch here and there in software, it's just the nature of the beast. How CL has handled (or not) those problems is the reason they will see no more of my $$$ until/unless they make a major turn-around.

Agree with XENO, and you folks have steel nerves. Im a Poseraddict. I couldnt have Poser6 in a box over my table without installing it ... in middle of huge howlings

So yp6 will you change your handle to yp7 when Poser 7 comes out?

If I'm interested in P7. ;D

In all seriousness, probably not. I was a CL beta tester early adopter for P5. For some silly reason, I expected CL to make more effort with P6 after the P5 release, so decided to give it another chance and get the good price but return it if dissatisfied with the feedback from various sources.

I like poser, it's a neat program that does a lot for the $$$, but I will not support the way CL does business.

I'll probably ignore P7.

I am wondering if CL discovered anything wrong in the money I paid cash for P6.
