There is a per process memory limit of 2GB. There is a switch that can increase this to 3GB (see attached link), but I've also seen a mention that not all programs are capable of taking advantage of it YMMV.Take sensible precautions if your messing about with these, if you don't have a techie on hand, best to leave well alone.
To increase and manage your virtual memory within Windows XP :- 1. Goto you control Panel then click on an Icon called system. 2. Click on the tab called Advance. 3.You will see 3 heading the first head is Performance which relates to Performance next to it Click on settings. 4. Window will open click on tab called Advance. Opens another window botom heading is Virtual Memory and a button next to it called change. This will open another window where you can specify paging memory to any of the HD on your system. Just continue follow windows instruction to apply. In addtion to this you can download shareware program that can manage your virtual memory. I am using Cacheman. I hope this helps.
The information in that MS article is wrong.
The /3GB and /userva settings are not supported by windows XP.
Most likely XP will just ignore the switches and it won't hurt your machine. Still MS should be more careful about what they write. I've notified my contact at MS to check the article.
Anyway, that switch would not have helped. There are very very VERY few programs that support the /3GB switch. Even most server software does not support that option.
The chances of Poser supporting it are near non-existant.
(instead of going through the troubles of supporting /3GB a programmer will more likely support /AEW so that they can use 16GB of memory instead of 3GB)
So Poser is stuck with "only" 2GB for renders.
Even if you have 3GB of physical ram, Poser can only use 2GB. There is nothing you can do yourself to work around this limit. And don't expect an update from CL either, since it would require rewriting a lot of code. (And Poser6 has enough memory problems already, so it doesn't need more complexity in that area :-))
Maybe now that lots of people have AMD64 cpu's and windows X64 is finally available, CL will make a 64bit version of Poser7. That would fix this issue.

When it comes to rendering with FireFly at Final Render setting Poser tells me that I have not enough Virtual Memory so Reduce settings(bucket size-texture filtering etc.) I am running XP Professional and have changed my Virtual Memory settings to:- Initial Size -3,000mb Max Size 4090mb.What is required to do these higher renders.
