Subject: Material room settings to simulate the weave of cloth

pookah69 ( ) posted Sat, 30 April 2005 at 11:01 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 8:46 AM

It seems that there should be some type of noise setting, or a bump map, that will give materials the look of woven cloth. Can anybody provide those settings? Too often, clothing has that "Poser airbrushed look" that seems like it should be avoidable....if only one knew the settings. Any ideas?

Silly question, perhaps, but have you tried the Weave node?

Yup, it's a very versatile one. Can be used as texture, transmap, displacement and bump. Hours of fun, especially when making your renders slow to a crawl. :)

Littledragon, that was not a silly question at all! In fact, I hadn't really known about the weave node, and I shall now spend a good part of the next few days playing wih it! Thanks!

Ah, StoneMason, I always wondered what one would get when one sheared an electric sheep of its steel wool. ;-) Sincerely, Bill
