Subject: Lyne's Creations Illegal Models Being circulated

Lyne ( ) posted Fri, 29 April 2005 at 1:47 PM ยท edited Wed, 06 November 2024 at 5:12 PM

I hope it is okay to post this here, where it will get the most notice. It is not a question about copyright, it is my own personal notice, that must get out in public. Thank You.

It has come to my attention AGAIN, that my models - my Egret/Herons, Pelicans and probably many others are being passed around illegally. I will at this point not mention names, but PLEASE, if you are the recipient of such a "gift" do NOT use the models! It is the only way to fight the illegal sharing of models! Many of you know how very hard I have worked on my models and texture maps, morphs etc. My shoulder is giving out on me, and now I am only able to continue with texture mapping and some minor morphs. It causes me MORE PAIN than even the partial loss of the use of my shoulder/arm that people can be so mean as to use my model sets illegally. If someone offers you such a "gift" please know that they are committing an illegal act and your use of these models will also be illegal!

I keep a copy of all my sales notices - names and e mails, etc. and MY STORE has a record of the addresses that the legal copies were mailed to. I am aware of the people that have my products legally.

The only way that anyone can receive a "gift" of my models (in whole or even a part of a set) is for one person to come to me and BUY an extra copy and tell me who it is for, so that I have a record of the legal owners. Without that record, I have to assume that if you are not on my lists you are using illegal copies! I have had e mails from various people about both the sighting and the receiving of copies of my models. I am not naming names as I said, so I can protect the honest people who are reporting this activity to me.

When my shoulder gets better one of the first things I have been planning are more high quality photo real FREEBIES... and for the HONEST people, I will still follow through with this, but right now it but it sure takes the edge off the "spirit of giving" with the knowledge of more and more people using and sharing illegal copies of my models!

Lyne, I sincerely hope everyone will read this message and realize the harm they are doing passing out your models. It's all just so unfair! Hope you're feeling better soon and kissies to you!

Thank you all for your kind words! I am getting back to browsing galleries and checking any suspects against my sales lists... and it is good to find that MOST of the art is legal and beautiful...and even helps generate more sales... the majority of artists that post are good people and that fact keeps me going! Hugs to you all! :) Lyne

Lyne, sorry to hear this. It's obvious how much time you spend on your wonderful creations, and to have this happen is unexcusable. Hopefully word will get around & those who do this will be exposed. A big thanks for all you've done for the community and and your spirit of sharing. Appreciate it. Now get feeling better :o).

Some people does have strange understandings of copyrights. I always wonder wether these people are so generous with the things they create as well. Especially when they make their living with them. Lyne, that you are doing so much to the 3D community that i would never ever have the idea of giving away your models for free. It simply is unfair, not much more to say to that behaviour.

It's a shame people still do things like this. I personally spend lots of money each year to buy legal software (just ordered Vue 5 Infinite yesterday) and content and am amazed that even most family and friends think that I am crazy to buy it all legal ...

What's even worse is that probably the ones using your creations are the ones that are the worst in creating great art ...

Good luck with your health !
