Hello all,

I was asked by the engineering team to post regarding the status of P6 SR1. They're sequestered in a dark cave outside of Bakersfield, living on coffee, Twinkies, and 12 year old Scotch.
We're in the final stages of testing and wrapping up a few issues, and would like to get this out in the next week or so if at all possible. So look for the service release soon. I'll post details when I have them.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks Steve, but I agree with Damsel. If the team wasn't busy with the Scotch, maybe we wouldn't have such a critical need for the patch! ;-)

Just kidding, thanks for the update, and I, like the rest of the Poser world, will wait in excited patience for the release.

You wasted 12 year old scotch on guys who've taken months to fix a memory bug? You should have included a bottle with every copy of P6 and given them bread and water... I kid. Honestly, I haven't felt the bug since it first bit my copy of P6 and I'm not sure why it disappeared. Eagerly awaiting the SR1 though...

I don't care if they're smokin' crack, as long as we get our service release! [note: this member does not condone the use of illegal drugs....much]

"dark cave outside of Bakersfield, living on coffee, Twinkies, and 12 year old Scotch. " Perhaps if you gave the poor guys a little more light they'd be able to work faster, and remember a happy programmer is a productive programmer. Also remember a happy programmer is one who has access to internet porn. ;) Thx CLSteve, I'm sure when this is finally out they'll be ready to dump the Twinkies and coffee....

Bakersfield? That's Siberia compared to lovely Santa Cruz! :-) Please let them know our good faith is with them, and if they run out of Johnny Black Label, we'll take up a collection. Thanks for the good news!

I'd hate to think of the case of DT's that would result from such a diet.....especially if it were prolonged.

At least deliver some Big Macs and up-sized fries to them.

Hey......if it'll help matters along, I'll even buy some of the combo meals for them myself!

This is WONDERFUL news.

Like rain in the desert.

Thanks!

I hope to be able to post some glowing comments soon.

If the memory bug is squashed, then P6 will be peerless.

[They have Poser. They can make their own damn porn. ] ROTFLMAO. No...that's just it. It's got bugs, so they can't. Maybe that's part of the incentive? Great news though. Looking forward to it.

They can make their own damn porn. I'd rather that they didn't. That would distract them from working on the SR.

They can't make proper P6 porn with James and Jessie UNTIL WE HAVE BETTER RIGGING (see attached link for discussion and 'sort of' a spec/concept).

When does sequester for new rigging system begin? I know a cave just outside of Sacra......

WAIT A MINUTE. There are no caves near Bakersfield. That is the flatest place on earth. Something fishy here.

CL dug its own caves. They hired a metro-building company to dig them some tunnels that they could use for caves...

Hehe I even heard somewhere they're going to rename the company from Curious Labs into Curious Stones (like in the Flintstones)! :D Serious. Steve could you tell us a bit more, maybe what the SR1 will fix (just to be sure you guys didn't miss a bug)? ;)

Great news, and thanks MUCH for the update! We should have heard something a while ago, I'd have thought, but I'm just happy that issues are being addressed? So any chance we can get a hopeful bugfix/feature enhancement list?

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

does it come with the ever elusive ''MAKE ART'' button? gah jk, i have p5 not p6 but after reading all the stuff about p6 im quite happy in the stone age with 5 :) good luck to all who get the release hope ti works for ya

Kenmac ( ) posted Tue, 03 May 2005 at 6:20 PM

Personally I haven't had any problems with Poser 6 although I have read about people having memory issues and if this will help out those with that problem, great. I hope this is the one and only SR update Poser 6 needs. As we all know, Poser 5 needed 4 of them. Thanks for the information Steve.

Fix what wasn't finished in P5 code + Tightening up new the P6 code = SR1

...cool now how long before SR2?

Got beer, a cooler, my copy of that unfinished P5 you sold me, and my lawn chair waiting to see what develops ...

LornaW ( ) posted Tue, 03 May 2005 at 9:29 PM

Oops, my mistake. They decided that a 'make art' button would be too simple and obvious so they tried to fool us by calling it by a different name; but most people figured out soon enough that it was that magic 'render' button..

Actually a "Make Art" button would be a neat Easter Egg. All it would have to do is select a random figure, pose, light set and camera angle from the relevant libraries and apply them. Maybe Ockham could create a "Make Art" Python Script....

Before they made me they broke the mold!

Haaaaahahahahahahah, be careful, dont give them ideas ... their work is slow because when it finish, bye bye to the good 12 year old Scotch. They would say to the Big Boss: "hey, man, we think that is a good idea to include in the SR1 the 'make art' buttom!!!" ... and more work, more days, more whisky ... :D

Take the scotch away from them and bribe them with it....lol I am looking forward to SR1 as much as i waited for P6... HORAHHHHH finally a fix for the memory issues? and now perhaps i can render stupidly high res renders without P6 giving up for some reason or another??? Cheers clsteve for the update.

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

Let SR1 out for a few daze, and if history is any indication there will be plenty of things to address with SR2.

Casette ( ) posted Wed, 04 May 2005 at 10:54 AM

Fcors, and until a SR4 ... ... too much SR ... too less whisky :D
