HI, I am sure there is lots of help here, Renderosity is a great place! I am writing a tutorial and I wanted to point people to the Manual description of the Multi-Replicate command. I learned it in Bryce 4, so I never bothered to look it up in the Bryce 5 manual until this time, only to find it wasn't there. Which means that a lot of Bryce 5 users may have no idea (unless they dig around) that there is such a feature and how to use it. Of course, I will be explaining it, but I was rather surprised to find no metion of it (it is not in the index) in the Bryce 5 manual. I wondered if I had gone insane or not.
The Bryce5 manual only tells you what things are not how to use them to best effect...... In the header of the forum is the Bryce Bible; Real World Bryce@Amazon Anyone new to the app should purchase this book, new, used or however you can get it, but it explains EVERYTHING in Bryce, and for those dabbling in the DTE, it will save you hours of time and heartache....

Hey Zhann, Thanks for the tip about the book. The book looks good from what I see at Amazon, but it seems it is for Bryce 4, not 5. So it would not cover things like the tree lab and the advanced light lab, correct? Or is 4 the version number of the book? If the book is for Bryce 4, do you know of a similar one for Bryce 5? I'd hate to buy the book only to discover that a brand new book for Bryce 5 was just released and I'm stuck with 4-- you know what I mean? It's been years since I used Byrce 4 anyway. But I would like to get better tips on the DTE and lighting and the Terrain Editor and such. Those things are pretty much the same in Bryce 5 as in 4 I think. And how will this all shake out with Bryce 5.5 which DAZ is releasing... any clues? Thanks
Although it is for B4, it's extremely comprehensive, for mostly everything, the tree lab is quirky anyway, and the lighting lab is easy to figure out once you get used to it.
But for things like parenting, terrains, sym lattices, DTE, sky lab effects, multireplicating, modeling the book is invaluable and most of the stuff is the same if not very close to B5. I do most of my own mats now in the DTE, one of my favorite parts of Bryce.
As for a new one for B5, don't know if they even plan on one, don't think DAZ has thought that far ahead. However when I got RWB it was an eye opener, so very comprehensive and it hasn't left my desk in 3 years.....sits right next to my tablet....RWB to me is indispensible....

Hi Zhann,Sounds good to me. I use Bryce so much that the book is probably worth the price. I see I can get a used copy and save some money so I will check this out. I can ALWAYS learn more about Bryce-- I hope it isn't going anywhere soon. I know a LOT of people are using the program. I have a bunch of Tutorials on my Web site (too big to post anywhere else, and they are a draw (no pun intended). This book may help me be more effective as a tut writer. I have no idea why I like to write Bryce 5 tuts. I just love the program.
You can check the tuts in the link.
Yup, I went with the "new & used" section twice with Real World Bryce 4, they turned out perfect. Btw, the book is almost 1,000 pages big. AS

I noticed that in the book description. That doesn't daunt me in the least! I am used to "Using Director 8", another massive tome. It is a bible on Director, absolutely essential to that program, and beats the Macromedia manuals hands down. So, I figure, if they have all those pages, they MUST be good!
RWB4 is just huge on the info packed in there. There just isn't anything not covered. Oh, also (with my new & used buying experience), the CD's that come with the book were perfect. If they aren't, for any reason, or just not there, contact the publisher, Peachpit Press, they have been very helpful in the past, as there IS one small tutorial section that missed making it to the CD ("Hoodoo Howdunnit") If/when you get the book, contact them, and they will e-mail you the missing section or give you a link to it. Hi, This may seem like a dumb question, but I can't seem to find anything about the Multi-Replicate command (in the Edit Menu of the Menu Bar) in the Bryce 5 manual. I did see it listed in the Bryce 4 manual. In fact, I can't find anything that is controlled by the Sub Menus of the Menu Bar listed in the Bryce 5 manual. Did Corel shortcut this? Have I lost something here, am I looking in the wrong place? I wonder if the DAZ Bryce 5.5 will have a better manual. Any thoughts? Thanks!
