Subject: Firefly Poser 5/6: Black renders by using product-mode

Hi all, we are a little bit disappointed, because we receive mistakes during render our newest object. If we render our newest model by Firefly(Production)the whole model is completely in deep black. There are no problems by rendering this model in draft mode. Also Poser 4 renderer doesn't make any problems. How can we fix this problem? - *.obj made by RDS 5 - problems in Poser5 and Poser 6 - problems by using Firefly Production - item all black (one joint, called lForeArm) Have a nice day Matthias + Daniel

Have you checked it through UVmapper? Is the mesh double sided? P5/P6 won't like that.

Hi Jeff, yes, we did. We tried several softwares for filtering our object. Meanwhile we solved the problem. Our mistake was to copy and paste differents parts of severals old RDS files into a one new RDS layer. These parts had different scales. So we reorganized our RDS file and now the firefly rendering is working. It was a hard day to figure it out. But we are curios, why this firefly got these problems. Is there another way to fix this problems for example by editing the object file or cr2? Thanks Matthias + Daniel

I have a similar problem that I haven't figured out yet. I am creating a series of props that are 3D text. I discovered that when I rendered one of the symbols by itself it was solid black. When I added a 2nd letter, BOTH showed up OK. I messed with it quite a while but I am not sure what is causing it. The OBJ file was pretty small and thus pretty simple.

Hi underdog,

same as we! Just our item and the production firefly render is solid black. No chance for any corrections.

Then we tried to leave the forearm of in the mesh. This foream (here. Judie 5) we need for positioning our dive-computer. Here for surprise, the render works.

We forwarded this problem to curiouslabs. Perhaps they now what to do.
