Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 1:43 pm)
Oh yeah, where ya been? ;) I've actually made some hair models with it, and morphed them too, by reimporting as .obj, parenting them and saving as a .hr2. Came up with one I really like, but it's like 6 MB in size! I've also made some grass skirts and other such junk, but like I said, they're HUGE and slow Poser down quite a bit. I'm still working on the hair model though, in Rhino, trying to eliminate unnecessary polygons, but there are ALOT of them, and it's taking a good while. I plan on putting it in Free Stuff when I'm done. I made a Vicki whick kinda looks like Geena Davis with it. :)
That is just too kewl! I tried it with the new Massive Mike and it kinda looks funny. It covers ALL of the body part like the pec (where I want the hair) to the shoulder (where I don't want the hair). I think that I will stick to trans maps. Now if I can figure out how to get a trans map to his chest and abs!
I hear rumours that if you type SURF a complete set of conforming surfing waves can be generated- but haven't tried it yet. Also if you really want something great type NUDE GIRL and Poser will make a totally realistic looking nude girl. I can't BELIEVE that a software company can get away with this...
These are called Easter Eggs! i love it. Will have to try these others. A LOT of software companies put Easter Eggs in their products. Good one: option-click the little picture at the top of the tools palette in Adobe ImageReady 3.0, and not only will it turn into the rubber ducky that the Adobe programmers love, but if you then do Help->About ImageReady 3.0... you'll get the startup screen--but it'll say, "Adobe Pet Wolverine" with a pic of a wolverine in it!
Just select any object, type in "hair", without the quotations, and a new window will pop up, with selctions for density, etc. And you can actually export this thing, but only as 3DS format. But then it can be converted to .obj and UV Mapped, and treated like any other 3D object. --Mike PS Note that I think this only works in Poser 4.

I started to play with this HAIR thing and found that I could make it render in the SKETCH mode, but not the regular mode. So I thought- if this renders in Sketch Mode, it must be REAL, and not a procedural effect. I tested this further by bringing in a very simple Pinguin 3DS model- and it covered it in hair. BUT, it won't hairify a Poser UV mapped object. Hummm. So I first tried exporting a hairy ball - BUT DON't DO IT! It takes forever. Instead- try a simple box, keep the hairs short and simple, and export it as a 3DS- which I did. I loaded it in our favorite 3DExplorer- and HAIR! Long Beautiful Hair! (etc choruses from the 60's musical HAIR) so- it's REAL folks. Think about THAT! It's Poser's own Phong rendering engine that can't seem to render it- but a Ray-Tracing renderer will. GET ON THIS, I THINK.
