Mike......U can't give up your modship!!! You haven't been roasted and toasted or put on a spit yet!!! You have been a great mod! Surely we haven't been that had to control, have we? Can't we convince you to hold dual modship like you can with dual citizenship in many countries? This forum needs two mods!!!! Just my two cents worth. Beck
Beck, Y'all cean always still roast, toast and put me on a spit at any other given time! I will still be posting here as much, I'm sure, and the only thing that'll be different is that I won't have to browse tha Vue gallery searching for violations of the TOS. Yeah, that doesn't happen anyway, not with us Vue-ers-- we're a pretty civil lot. :) I sure as H*LL wouldn't want to be the Poser mod, though, LOL hard to control? Hardly! It's been a great joy, really, and I've been proud to tell people I'm one of a small handful of forum moderators on the best graphic arts site on the whole WWW! This place currently has around 45,000 members, give or take slightly, but it's something like that. And it's something like 150 NEW members per day! But, it's time for me to blend in a little bit, and also to concentrate more on making some art. And I've hardly had any chance at all to finish the dragon I've been working on with Bloodsong's Dragon Factory. Poor guy has no arms yet! Not that this is any big deal, moderating this forum--- It's really quite simple, but I have made it much more demanding on myself than it ever need be, checking the site every 5 minutes, checking the OTHER galleries, watching out for TOS violations---blah blah blah. Russell Cook, webmaster extraordinaire asked all of us to help with that. Not a necessity, really, as each mod is supposed to watch over his own, but things slip by. But Russell apreciates it. Since I became mod here, I have gotten them to change the name from Vue to Vue d'Esprit on all the menu items. hmmm... I think there's one left somewhere that wasn't changed. And I got them to change the name of the tutorials section from Poser Tutorials, to Digital Arts Tutorials. And I got them to start a new Forum, HTML And Web Scripting. :) So, I've donme a few things, but it is quite rare for me to be able to take a hardcore Vue question and answer it myself. I just simply haven't been using the program long enough to be any kind of an expert. And just like Vue deserves to have it's REAL, FULL name on those things I mentioned, this forum deserves to have a Vue d'Esprit EXPERT as it's moderator. it's really as simple as that. I appreciate your very kind words, beck, really I do. Like I said though, I'm not LEAVING, just quitting as mod. Believe me, I'll still be around here far more than anyone wants, anyway!!! And as I said above, I will still be VERY roastable, toastable and uhh, spit-enabled (?) :P --Mike
I have seen the impact your efforts have made on this forum, and the changes have been extraordinarily wonderful! I just kinda feel sad to see you give up what you have been busting your tail feather for so easily. As for Bloodsongs dragon factory...I envy you. I STILL haven't been able to organise myself to afford it yet, but I'm trying...and my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks...maybe I can ask my kids real nice..(what am I saying...that means I have to give them the money to buy it LOL) Your ideas are wonderfully refreshing. I thankyou for all of the personal time and effort you threw into this place to get it rocking even more than it does. BTW....Spit-enabled? that brings very different connotations to mind LOL thanks for the idea ;) Beck
Sit-enabled? Sorry, just woke up. We're gonna bbq Mike, is that the drift? I'll bring the mesquite chunks and jalapeno baste...
"I am a good person now and it feels... well, pretty much the same as I felt before (except that the headaches have gone away now that I'm not wearing control top pantyhose on my head anymore)"
'bear, fancy seeing you here! I'm no big fan of mesquite, but I have a RAGING addiction to jalapenos! Bring some beer, too, if'n ya don't mind---just in case the fire gets too hot. LOL Beck, you would like Dragon Factory much, believe you me.. it is quite cool. Mary bought it too. :) Cheers, Mike PS I have done nothing really particularly special here, just asked politely for a few changes to be made. And as for "busting my tail", well, it's been SOOO much easier than I could possibly stress. And I did it out of respect for Vue, and respect for this site and its' members. Plus, assumong the person I have "nominated" actually is chosen, I'm sure it will all continue. :)
Okay... Shiner Boch okay? Or do you insist on the fancy beer? Still... it just won't be the same, was looking forward to you with an apple in your mouth being chased around by Kate the Shrew with a spit in one hand and a bottle of Heinze57 in the other. snicker Still, you did a great job here, and there have been a lot of mods who weren't neccessarily the best in the field with their respective software. Look at where Bryce Forum would be if it was decided that only Darren Chapman or Harrison2 could moderate it and they weren't interested. [Er... don't tell FastTraxx I said that, ok?]

-- Basically because I just don't feel up to it, actually. There are several members here who are FAR more experienced and knowledgeable than I, and I honestly think that any forum, THIS particular forum, deserves to have a moderator who is about as good as you can get with the software. -- Hm, well it sounds reasonable, but I gotta tell you, Mike, you did quite a lot for this forum -- and general areas around Renderosity -- as you already noted above. I'm of the view (Vue?) that all that's required of the moderator is to have some familiarity with Vue and also with its community, and be a thinker and a real "people-person". IMHO, you fit into those shoes quite aptly, and it's been enjoyable having you "host" us. So it is sad to watch you step down, but I'm sure you will find a ready use for the extra time, and I'm glad you'll still be hanging around. :) Varian -- Treasures d'Esprit
"There are several members here who are FAR more experienced and knowledgeable than I, and I honestly think that any forum, THIS particular forum, deserves to have a moderator who is about as good as you can get with the software." It never occur to me that way...who said that you have to be good at using Vue to be a moderator. If this is true, then passed off my statement. I agreed with Varian. Well, sometime its "Too much lures 'n' so little time" senario. I have to agree with you that being a moderator, there ain't much time left to thinker with all those software. But even though so, you do not have to be an expert angler to catch a fish. Whatever your decision, I know its for the better :) Bill
Well, the person who I had recommended has changed her mind about it. I just got this message from Tim Choates, which more or less explains it all: Instant Message from tim: I accept your withdrawal of your resignation. :) Glad you'll be hanging around. ................................... So, that's the end of THIS story, and I thank youn guys for your show of support and your nice words. :) --Mike Now let's get back to some Vue-ing!
Hmmmmm!!!???...."one-liner"?...what's that? Whenever someone mention the word "liner"...I always think of female "undies" :)....be it one or two or three...so Mike?...what's "one-liner"...one lady undies you need?...for what....LOL! Sorry ladies, some laugh to make me grow a bit fat. I have been down in health lately and I'm 'shrinking'from lack of fats 'n' water. Bill
-- Whenever someone mention the word "liner"...I always think of female "undies" :) -- Hm...seems there are some among us in much worse condition than our MOD COW moderator! LOL! Tsk Bill...always with the mind in the gutter, eh? =:o A "one-liner" is a very brief (maybe I shouldn't say "brief" -- LOL!) joke or humored insult, such as: ** Take my wife -- please! ** Two pretzels were walking down the street, and one was assaulted. ** I've heard it tastes like chicken. ** Welcome back, your just in time for LUNCH!!!! But never fear, we forgive you. We understand that everything is upside down in CHINA. VEG Hm...time for me to practice jogging at a very fast rate of speed...-----========={==={=====>>>
Me in CHINA?....where did you ever heard I was from China? You are the third person I know who said that to me....LOL! Make a guess and here is a clue...."Merlion City" :) "...practice jogging at a very fast rate of speed.." - you have to out do the speed of them stuff coming out from the double barrel thingy once the trigger is squizzed..used to be for Mike....LOL! Bill
LOL I thought you were in Singapore, Bill. I don't remember HOW I got that impression, but I did. I think JeffH recently said you lived in the Far East. For a while there, though I think I once thought you were in Spain. shrug Where's Merlion City? BTW I am currently, right now, exploring the mysteries of the "caustic tut" you sent me. Very cool stuff, and I want to thank you again! Please don't shoot Varian-- we need him for the models. :) --Mike
Spain!?...oh my gosh...don't you people ever asked where people live (hmmmm...thinkof it, I don't myself, normally I would guess from the @mail addy). JeffH did asked once. Merlion?...Lion head to half body and a mermaid tail. Well this is what I know - that when Sir Stamford Raffles (in 1819) founded this tropical rainforest island and call it Singapore. He saw a creature of sort...at at least he thought so. Varian?...ok!x3...how can I. He is one of the person I admire for his work and kindness...I asked and he told me that his site has been build around since 5 years or more ago. Anyway, the thingy is just a toy one :) In my 'country' here, no boby owns a gun, if you do, you have to write almost a bible and hve a license for it and it has to be kept at the police station. If you are caught with a pen kinife more then 3" long, mann!!!...you have long statement to write in the police station. Ok, Lunch is almost ready...are you fully cooked yet, Mike! Beck and Ironbear is sitting comfortably with beers in their hands looking at you, well done or medium well...LOL! Bill
Looking down those double barrels, I'd have to say it's Singapore, absolutely. No question about it! No one could dispute that! Then again, since it's merely a toy gun, then Bill definitely lives upside-down in CHINA. ;> Q: If someone lives in the Far East, do they do their shopping in the Near East? If you lived on the other side of the Far East, would you call it the Far West? Hehehe...um, ahem. Okay, back to Vueing. ;) ;) ;)
Well.....I decided that Beer was just too boring, so I went out and bought something a little more special for the ocassion. Spanish Red Wine.....after all I am spanish ;) I like my meat well cooked yet still tender, so Mike....stop running around and stay on that skewer! Bear....I'll have a nice juicy tender thigh please! Bill, even in Singapore, meat can be tender and juicy...and Mod on a stick is good for what ails you. Soooooo which portion of mike would you like? Guarranteed to make you feel better instantly. Think of it like one of those exotic eastern herbal preparations....very unusual yet very very effective!! Varian...have U heard that the water in CHINA runs upside down too? LOL I know I have.....-=-taking on a sprint to see if I can get out of the way faster as Bill picks up the spear gun Pete Extreme used in his latest pic. Screaming WATCH out Rynn MADMAN with a speargun on the loose RUN FOR THE HILLS-=------------ :p~ Beck
Beck - "Spanish Red Wine.....after all I am spanish"...golly you Spanish!....forgot about it as you did mentioned once, though you are Australian becuz of you @mail addy. "meat well cooked yet still tender.." tenderlizer always help but I always tell people they are eating chemical that makes their digestive system tender too and in no time, when they drink cold drinks, the stomach and intestine lining and walls are going to crack. If you thing hammering the steak (like Mike Sirlion part) with a malet, its not a smart move too as you are eating bruised meat and blue black protien...LOL!!! So what you do, hee! x2...slow and easy on over just the right heat temperature of the charcoal. This makes the inside cook just right with the juice staying wet and outside to 'burn' nice, great texture and tasty. If all this is too much....settle for the minute (sp?)...they are always tender...somewhat. Woah!....Mike, you look good and my mouth is watering so much soon to flood this thread ;-) "...water in CHINA runs upside down too"...careful, don't drink to much or you do think upside down too! "RUN FOR THE HILLS"...swim for the hills you mean?....and comoflage yourself with corals and anemone!..LOL! Mike - "Mike, who LOVES anything that's either very hot or very sweet."..how does tasting yourself feels eh!? If not good enough, get marinated in 1/3 Kraft Original BBQ sauce and 2/3 of Japanese eel sauce...skip the A1 BBQ sauce. You lucky fellow Mike!...you gonna get licked.."t's going to be a pleasure licking the sauce off when I'm done wink"..wink somemore, WOW! "Well that sounds pretty good too. wink back "...now what does you mean by "pretty good"!? Beck, Mike owe yuo an explaination....LOL! Bill
Oh my my...I think I've lost track now of who's licking who?? Must be that backwards CHINA influence. Hey, as long as everyone has their ONE-LINERS (or maybe even two!), we should be okay, eh? =:o I think the flames are getting too hot here. Whewee! Mr. Totally-Innocent-Doesn't-Understand-Double-Entendres-At-All-No-Sir!
"Well now THAT seems pretty hard to answer. I plead the fifth, LOL! " Hate to tell you this Mike...In Spain and in Australia...we don't have the 5th, so try again! LOL "If not good enough, get marinated in 1/3 Kraft Original BBQ sauce and 2/3 of Japanese eel sauce...skip the A1 BBQ sauce." Bill, Teriyaki and Japanese eel sauce sounds a lot yummier! Great Idea =) "Mr. Totally-Innocent-Doesn't-Understand-Double-Entendres-At-All-No-Sir!" Aha, ahum...sure Varian..the king of double entendres has voiced his innocence, and although hundreds of others wouldn't believe you, WE - your Vue d'Esprit forum buddies, WILL!!!! ROTFL Beck
"Kate, you almost made me spit Pepsi all over my screen! " Oh noooooooo we failed!!! Quik....kate....put mikey into the volcano as an offering.....then he WILL spit his pepsi over his screen ;) As it is written in the Mderator's Handbook we all got at our sign up with Renderosity...pg 2117 last footnote section e:in small print LOL...not that small print....the other smaller print! That's the one!!! ;)
Good God! I go away for a few days and this place goes to Hell in a handbasket :-) I don't think it matters if a person is completely skilled at a program - I like the fact that you take the time to answer, seem to care about your fellow Vue'rs (or whatever :-)and, anyway, if you're not sure someone else always offers advice. What more do we need!? Glad you're staying, Mike! Claire

To All My Fellow Vue-ers.... ...to all of you, both "regulars" here, and occasional visitors, this message is to let you know that it is time for me to pass the crown of Moderator on to someone else. Though it has not been very long for me here as Moderator, having taken over for Bloodsong, I dunnoo, what, 3-4 months ago. But I always kind of figured this would be temporary for me anyway. Please take a moment to re-Vue my FAQ: 1) Does this mean you are leaving this forum? "No, of course not. Don't ask such stupid questions!" 2) Does this mean that you have lost interest in Vue d'Esprit? "See answer to number 1" 3) Why? "Ahh, a good question there, finally!" Basically because I just don't feel up to it, actually. There are several members here who are FAR more experienced and knowledgeable than I, and I honestly think that any forum, THIS particular forum, deserves to have a moderator who is about as good as you can get with the software. I have personally made a recommendation to Tim Choates, aka Mr. Edgenet himself after asking this person if she was interested. It is my understanding that a dialogue between them has begun, though I'm still in the dark as to what that is. But I am REALLY hoping that it works out this way, and I can tell you, I have made a recommendation that NOBODY could refuse. It would be Recommendation Of The Year, if they gave out awards for that sort of thing. Wait a minute..do they? Got an award for everything else, ya know. ;) I have no intention of abandoning this site, or this forum in particular. This is my Home Away From Home, and you people are my friends. :) And I thank each and every one of you for having made this job sooo easy and rewarding, and for accepting me the way that you did when this first happened. Those of you who remember how it all transpired originally might also remember that I was dragged into it screaming and kicking, though I think Bill tried to assasinate me at one point, but I really can't remember. SOMETHING happened-- I saw movement behind that grassy knoll, and that was more than enough to send ME running for cover! ;) I would also like to say.... Ahh, skip it... y'all get the idea. :) Cheers, Mike
