Yes.

Perhaps add a few more details -- zippers? Buckles? Straps?

Several different texture options would be nice.

Put it up for sale in the MP.

You'll get some sales, I'm sure.

BTW - add a visor over the eyes/change the texture of the cloth -- and then the outfit would resemble one of the Imperial bodyguards from The Return of the Jedi.

Oh, yeah.....you should make fit versions for V3/SP/Jessi/Laura/A3/PT girls.

I was trying to make a burka, but I am in a period (2 weeks) with a complete lack of imagination and inspiration, so I have no idea on what I am doing, for what and who I am!

Mariana_ ( ) posted Mon, 09 May 2005 at 4:06 PM

looks like a hajib (sp?) to me for middle east women, i would suggest more detail around the head piece, perhaps some fine lace detail, and also add some sleeves that fit around the ladies arms for more flexibility, instead of consuming her entire body, narrow the waist a bit, and as xeno suggested add some beautiful textures, varying in color style etc.. if im wrong about what it is..just ignore me :P

Yes, I gathered that. Looks like you are headed in the right direction.

I don't know if you had considered selling it -- but you'd probably find a market for the model if you did. After some more work, anyway.

And yes -- it could double as an Imperial bodyguard suit.

Imperial bodyguards must be required to wear burkas.

;)

If you can make that cloth grow hair in the hair room, people could use it to create "Cousin It" from the Addams Family. ;-)

She's preparing herself for the next wave of unacceptable attire for figures. In another thread we joked that it will eventually come to being allowed to only post figures in clothing that cover all of their skin from head to toe.

It looks that can be something useful with many applications: Jihab, Burka, Imperial bodyguards, Mummy, Cousin it, Faeries, Mermaids, Sirens, Standart and only cloth for Poser, and more comming soon!

You might want to hide that toe at the bottom. The poor woman may be stoned to death for showing skin ;)

She also needs dark eyes. With those blue ones, she is obviously a foreign spy, or maybe even a reporter. The toe must be covered. No bells on the ankles, either! note for Mariana_, The hajib is only the headcloth. The all-covering garment is a burqa. There are several other Arabic garments with other names... and many of them are very beautiful and colorful. Carolly

"She also needs dark eyes. With those blue ones, she is obviously a foreign spy, or maybe even a reporter." Arabs like woman with blue eyes, they give you more camels for blue eyes than for dark eyes. Also the Tuaregs have blue eyes.

i think i need to upgrade my internal memory ^.~ "Arabs like woman with blue eyes," someone once told me that my eyes reminded them of the sky and is why they liked blue eyed women so much lol

More camels, huh? How many camels, and does the woman get a share of them?

djthomas ( ) posted Tue, 10 May 2005 at 6:33 AM

Perhaps sleeves - or some way for the arms to be useful when worn. Otherwise, it seems a bit impractical. Of course, I'm no fashion guru, but...

shedofjoy ( ) posted Tue, 10 May 2005 at 9:37 AM

do a green texture and you can have a fancy dress Gherkin costume.

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

Someone posted this link in a different thread yesterday. It shows one of these contraptions on a person. Maybe it will help. The main thing I notice is that the shoulders are too pronounced. You don't reall see the shoulders on those things (I think).

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Tue, 10 May 2005 at 11:24 AM

How many camels, and does the woman get a share of them?

The number of camels depends upon the individual parties' negotiating skills. And the value of the merchandise in question.

Yes, the woman gets a share of the camels. She gets to feed them, water them, and milk them. All while wearing a burqa.

With the blue eyes she could also be a kidnapped European tourist.

Such things actually happen in that part of the world, although they aren't reported on in the US press very often.

Sort of like the open village raiding and slave-trading of Christians by Moslems in southern Sudan. The US press doesn't talk about that either. The story would be too politically incorrect -- it might help to lend credence to Bush's interventionist policies in the Middle East. And we can't have that.

Hey, just be glad that we aren't talking about Indonesia.

They trade pigs for women there.

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Tue, 10 May 2005 at 11:26 AM

And the average woman in the jungles of Indonesia doesn't wear a burqa. Or much else, for that matter. Neither do the men.

Well it's off to the jungles of Indonesia then!!!

The average life expectancy there is around 35. Or so.

And there are a lot of things in those jungles that will eat you, too. Whether you are wearing a burqa or not.

BTW - cannibalism, although officially outlawed, is still known to occur in places like New Guinea. Maybe Indonesia, too. Message edited on: 05/10/2005 11:48

I suppose burqas could be compared to habits. They are both worn by people intent on maintaining their purity. [And the Pun Police shout, "Stop it Bobasaur! We'll have nun of that around here!"]

Ugh! Naked eyes!! The nerve!!!

hauksdottir ( ) posted Tue, 10 May 2005 at 7:24 PM

Bobasaur, I'll have to disagree about the reasons... especially given the family size/number of children of a Muslim household compared to a nunnery. The burqa is so that the eyes of a strange male don't fall upon the woman, and covet her (which would be a trespass against the man who owns her). At home she can work topless. The nun's habit indicates that she has given up the things of the earth (including any clothing which typically indicates social status or wealth), and has become the bride of Christ. Purity isn't involved in either case. The white shift given at baptism in the middle ages did indicate purity. There are tales of some Scandinavians who got baptised 3 and 4 times just to get new clothes... when fabric started to run out, they made the shifts shorter and got complaints. Carolly

Bobasaur ( ) posted Tue, 10 May 2005 at 8:25 PM

I was using a real loose definition of purity. Real real loose. ;-)
