The best way to do this is to not use the sky dome in the background at all. If you want to use the same background image, you need 2 images. One, spherical if possible, to use in the environment light settings. The other, to use on a simple square, placed behind your scene as a backdrop.

Hi everyone :) I'm trying to find some more info about using enviroment mapping (under atmosphere editor) other than the info on Vue's manual. I wonder if there are certain ways to prepare the pic you want to use as background for this effect, because all i can do to give one of my objects a decent and good looking background is anything than convincing! I'm trying to play with the camera controllers in order to scale the background pic properly, but i get only a badly distorted image...think of a case in which you want to insert in front of a house's facade (this would be my background pic) a pergola or a porch that you've made as an imported 3ds object and you're trying to make it look of the right proportions with the house...an ackward task for me... anyone could kindly help me here? thank you in advance!
