I wanna know who is fastest and who is slowest for Poser 6 startup. I get 1 minute 45 seconds for Poser 6 as installed. Celeron 2.5Ghz 240RAM - don't what my drive spin is but it holds 75Gb.

Startup time will probably depend on which runtime you were in when you last closed the program and how much content is in that runtime.

I usually start up in my product testing runtime which contains only the items I'm testing at that time. I usually try to remember to close Poser in that runtime because it's always the smallest one (size varies but averages around 25 to 50 MB).

  • pulls out the stopwatch * 19.4 seconds for initial startup. 10.9 seconds for successive startups. P6 currently opens to a blank scene. The library is pointed toward my old P4 runtime (6.38GB of content). WinXP, Athlon XP 2000+, 1GB of memory, 120GB HD.

Yeah I always open to a blank scene. Loads faster.

ROFL @ geep

1980/81 I bought my first computer, Radio Shack 80, if I remember the name right. Worked well with standard tape recorder. :o)

Those were the days.......
when computer game graphics consisted of X's, >'s and dots. And you had to 'set' the pixel on or off for white or black.
And text adventures.... 'You see a big cave entrance'. It was sooo exiting!
There was one called 'the pyramid'. Never was able to find all them rooms in that game, which still bugs me.

walks off thinking of them old days

Ah the " Trash 80 ". Never got one of them. Was still tinkering with my Heathkit H-80. Tape drive, 16k RAM 8MHz cpu. No programs, had to program myself.

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

38 seconds in the P6 runtime (most of my stuff is in other runtimes) opening into a blank scene. 3GHz Pentium 4, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB HD with about 75% free, win xp pro.

Just got P6 today. (Felt left out wif nothing to complain about) Still can't believe the start up time! From clicking icon to preferred state (empty scene) and in jam packed P4 runtime takes 21 seconds. Running on a (prolly outdated by now): P4 HT 3.20 Giggleshurt 2 Gigglesbite RAM XFX 6800 Ultra (256 MB) And I have P6 installed on its own Raptor 10,000 rpm HD with all other system files on a Raptor as well.

AthlonXP 2700, 1 GB DDR333, 2x80 GB Maxtor DiamondMax9 8 MB cache 7200 RPM in RAID0 (Highpoint 372 onboard controller) WinXP SP2: 11 seconds, starting in the P6 default runtime, opening the default guy scene. This is for 2nd or later startup.
