In my on-line gallery/shop I've got an image originally shot in colour. It's a night-shot of a factory "in full steam".
At first I wasn't too pleased with the image since it was un-filtered and thus show an "ugly" green-blue cast. So, I took the easy solution and converted it into a B&W using normal Split Channels technique in Photoshop.
Think it turned out really nice ....

But - now I'm getting second thoughts here and contemplate wether or not to put the colour version in the gallery/shop as well.
...and if I do - should I try to get rid of the green cast and what would be a good method of doing that in Photoshp 7.1 ?
... or should I just leave it as is - cast and all ?

It's a wonderful photo!!!! the only thing is that big copyright across your b/w totally distracts me. i can't get into your image at all because i can't see the details of your fine picture for those letters. the only way i could really compare is if you posted the b/w version without copyright on it. :) the color one...i can really enjoy! looks wonderful just the way it is. i love the rich colors and great detail! reflections are fantastic too! :)

I just like less saturated on night shots. I agree also with Sheila as to that big copyright. Makes it hard to have a good view.

Thank you for your suggestion. I didn't think about that solution at all but I can see it can be worth experimenting with.
I was more thinking I would try to filter the green cast out using a complementary colour (to green) in some creative way I haven't quite figured out yet.

I perfectly understand your opinion about the "watermark".
Unfortunately it has proven to be a necessary precaution when you sell imges on-line.
If not marked in any way you never know where they end up... Marking makes them useless to steal.

On the other hand I haven't disabled right-klicking on my site, so the 72 dpi's displayed can be saved and used for making dummies and for lay-out control.
You give some - and you take some ...

But - of course - who can resist a request from a lady ?

Thanks for showing, Bakkti! yep...the b/w version is awesome! not sure which one i like more...well...actually, i prefer the color because i really enjoy the reflections. Also, too much is lost in the b/w. For instance, that red light at the top is basically lost in the b/w version. i like what doug did and think it looks great; however, i really do love your original! i dig rich, bold colors! but yeah...include the b/w...why not? it's fantastic! :)

Ok - I think I'll go for both versions.
Have to wrestle PS a bit to find out best method to enhance the feel of the colour version.

Shot from a hill with a Pentax K-1000.
Ectachrome 64 - unfiltered.
35mm lens, f/8 at 45 sek exposure.

( ... and it was bl**dy freezing !! )

I definitely prefer the original too here!!! I totally love those colors and the green doesn't bother me one bit, on a contrary!!! But I guess it's all up to individual taste, and I just love the colors of night shots usually as taken, like the orange cast for ex!! What d'ya think Doug? ;P Just my 5 pennies!

This is most cool looking. I like that last b/w one best. :-)

Original color version is my preference too...... BW is nice but seems to be lacking the atmosphere of the color one.

Reading all posts makes me understand better why I had a hard time deciding...
Yes, I kinda like the green(-ish) hue in the original colour slide ( it grew on me in due time ), but Doug has a point there. It would most probably look "bad" when printed since green has a tendency to stand out in printed images. There are not many other colours there to compete with it.

But, I'll have a go at it in PS during weekend to see what I can come up with.
If I find out something useful it will turn up in the "Misc" department of my site.
