Hi Just finished small preview of my non commercial hobby production using Poser6. so premiere!!!!!!!! I used all features as always, the light was IBL AO + Image Light for the light reflection visible on the monster. I hope you like the animation is 5.67 MB in a Window Media Video formal at TV Resolution and it looks cool on TV in original format as the still image. I hope you like and have fun! Hugs! Cath

That is a compliment well deserve my dear friend!:)
what are you lights setting for this scene?I like the reflection light on him, how can I do that?

Mec4D ( ) posted Thu, 12 May 2005 at 2:37 PM

how you can do that? it is simple, create a point or spot light and use Image Maps for the Light, the Image maps will include the colors that will match together with the background as in the scene above. I used one IBL AO and one Spot, I need the spot or I will lose the light reflection in the eye I want too. The skin was a shader node turbulence. I created the Image Maps for the Spot and used as reference the background forest light reflection to get it exact, later I put the spot on the right place of the scene. I hope it help Hugs! Cath

First option was to create the ligth reflections animated and I did this, but was scared that it will not working very well and after 4 days of non stop rendering I will lose the time... I decided to not use animated image maps but well if I was done it for create water light reflections I will do this for sure. Here the Light Maps on simple Spot light not IBL AO Cath

Thanks, Cath! That makes it a little easier to follow, but mainly, I meant that I didn't know how the story came to that point. What DID the robot do? What are the robot's brothers & sisters?

[jumps up & down like a kid] What happened? What happened?

:)

Mark did a good job with the voice acting, too, by the way.

templargfx ( ) posted Fri, 13 May 2005 at 3:20 AM

I wasnt being sarcastic either, there like one of the coolest lines from the otherwise dismal movie. Im guessing you did not write up those lines if you have never seen the movie. perhaps an Aliens fan is hiding in the background there?

The quality of this animation is striking! I noticed you mentioned "TV resolution". I am using P5. Is this something new to P6? If not, how did you render to achieve this appearance?

Mec4D ( ) posted Fri, 13 May 2005 at 7:17 PM

I rednered on 100% quality but what you see above is only a frame from Windows Media , the original quick time final movie converted to DVD is top quality, TV is not Monitor , and work different way but what I mean with TV resolution was the format for 4:3 , it is not new to Poser6 but it is just standard resolutions for TV as for example :panoramic: 16:9 so 4:3 final resolution for TV will be 768 x 576 and 720 x 576 that are formats used for TV resolution, if you render your animation on this format then for sure your animation will fit the TV screen for sure later on DVD or VHS :) and you can use 74dpi and not 300 dpi what is used only for print. Ah! Interesting. I haven't seen any of the Alien movies, so I couldn't tell if any of the lines are the same or similar.

Bobasaur ( ) posted Fri, 27 May 2005 at 3:34 PM

Quick note: As this screen cap from After Effects shows, the dimensions Mec4D listed were for PAL TV resolution. Those of us in the US are in the NTSC domain. Unless P6 renders rectangular pixels (I don't have it yet so I don't know but certainly it didn't through P5), you would need to render from Poser using the "NTSC D1 Square Pixel" setting - 720x540 - and then convert to the 720 x 480 (DV) or 720 x 486 (D1) resolutions using another program.

Before they made me they broke the mold!
