Hmmmm, does anyone have any of Vanlippe's Volumetric Materials for Volumetric Slabs? I had the zip once and also had them installed in Bryce, but with the hd wipes and new machines I've lost track of them....reference page is the link.

If you find them, I'd certainly like them :) I was searching for them earlier this week in response to the mist and fog thread.

Find someone with a MAC to look at the file that can be grabbed. Either its impossible for me to open, or the file is corrupt. AS

I have them, Zhann. Are you sure it's okay to distribute them? Let me know, I'll email 'em to ya... And anyone else who would like them...? I can't find a .txt saying either way. I'll try emailing him?

I'm the stereotypical Vanlippe story. Had them...used them...then my hard drive crashed. AS

There's something fishy with the HQX file. WinZip says the file has no end, Aladdin expander extracts a SIT file, but upon expanding the SIT, there's nothing in the directory.

Aye, the site's been toast for some time. If anyone wants 'em, gimme your email. Got 'em zipped up and ready to rock. I'll do a mass emailing in the morning, which is 3pm StormDragonTime...

TwistedBolt ( ) posted Fri, 13 May 2005 at 1:00 PM

I downloaded the .sit file, its a selfextracting "mac only" type.....They work fine on my end.I can zip it if lordstormdragon doesnt have the time.

It might be best for you guys to send it to AgentSmith to put in the download area. That way you don't have to send it a zillion addresses.

Here ya go: Vanlippe materials

ariannah ( ) posted Fri, 13 May 2005 at 4:27 PM

Thank you madmax and Zhann as well for asking about these mats. I've been looking all over for these since I lost mine in a hard drive crash about a year ago. They might be buried on one of my Bryce back up CD's, but I sure wasn't looking forward sorting all of them. My categorizing methods weren't too swift back then, lol. ;)

Thanks everyone, I've tried to reach Vanlippe to host his tutorials as well. There are so many Bryce resources than seem to vanish quietly into the night....these mats will be of great benefit to every Brycer.... I am backing up all the cool stuff I find so that if anything happens I'll give all to AS for the backroom.... Same here AS, Had them...used them...then my hard drive crashed. That was before I bought 3-240gb ext HDs to back all my stuff up.....=)

Zhann, If you ever manage to get in contact, please ask about the "Animating Waterfalls" tutorial that has also been lost in the mists of time... I REALLY wanted that.

Animating waterfalls can be done with texture animation, generally... Or a simple landcape animation couple with some texture noise... Although animating anything in Bryce is an exercise in futility, generally. For short clips, it's possible though.

Alas, Fran, I'm knee-deep in animating a particle-driven dynamic fountain of blood in Maya. Collision detection per-particle and everything, I don't think I'll have any time soon to waste attempting animation in Bryce... I don't think I'll ever animate in Bryce again, to be honest. It's just really not a good animation tool, and the render times are ridiculous compared to the other tools at hand. I can't justify spending hours in Bryce to do what takes Maya seconds to set up, alas... If you want though, I can show ya how to animate procedural textures to do the waterfall. It's fairly straightforward. Then you just map them to a terrain object... I'll do something for ya this afternoon after I get home from work...? (this is the mess I'm in as we speak)
