Hey everyone, I have now been playing with Poser for a month or two and I am start to get alot of things in poser. I am now starting to have trouble remembering and/or find stuff. Is there and way to keep everything so that you know what you have and where it is? I see this only getting worse because I see new stuff every day that I want. Thanks Grant

Multiple runtimes for Poser 5 and 6. but if you're using Poser4/Poser Artist, or the ProPack they don't support multiple runtimes.

This is what saved me! At first I found it too complicated because I was very new and didn't understand all the file extensions and where they went and stuff. But now that I have a little better understanding of the file extensions, I find multiple runtimes to be a blessing. I have a runtime for: V3 Character Addons V3 Clothing SP3 Character Addons SP3 Clothing D3 Character Addons D3 Clothing M3 Character Addons M3 Clothing Sara Faeries and Angels Mermaids V2 Hair and Nails Lighting Props and Poses Environments and Backgrounds Furrette It makes it so much easier to find things. Also if you have a smaller hard drive like I do (40 gigs), you can burn off the runtimes that you don't use all of the time and then paste them back to your hard drive as you need them. It's nice to be able to go to "Hair Runtime" and find nothing but hair and hair props. Go to V3 Clothing and not have to wade through other folders for SP3 etc. Sometimes there is a cross over and one texture can be used for more than one figure (IE: MFD textures for SP3 and V3). In that case I install those textures to each character's clothing folder, so that it's readily accessible and I don't have to worry about having to look through the V3 clothing CD to find a MFD texture for SP3 MFD.

amazing..I've lived to an age to see a 40 gig drive seen as 'one of the smaller ones'..;) of course, I started out with 2 30 meg drives..;)

Start organizing the moment you download by renaming and downloading into the right folders. This thread is old, but should help. Carolly

Mmmm... while it will not help to keep things organized, i usually make a small render (300x300) of anything i get and store it in a sort of library, so i can browse there and choose what to use in my renders, even when the thumbnails are unusable (i use P4) or non-descripting.

I've been creating indexes in Word using thumbnails, often uisng the .pngs created for Poser thumbnails by the content creators, sometimes creating my own thumbs if I don't think the supplied thumbnail is gives a good enough view of an item. I've indexed about a third of my content and have had to split things into 68 Word files (since Word chokes on these indexes when the file gets over 20 Mb in size) and the total size is over 800 Mb. It's taking a ridiculous amount of time, but it does make it easier to find the exact items I want to bring into an illustration. Since I'm doing it while watching TV, it's not exactly lost time.
