Hey all- I've been working on some fantasy armor for V3... Sadly, I'm a little short of cash so certain... um, compromises had to be made. The modeling is about done, and I'll start working on the joints, at least as soon as I find my duct tape. :) Regards- Lemurtek

That was cute!

ROFL... I don't know how servicable it is, but it's definitely stylish. ;-)

This is good. It will certainly give more protection than the average suit of fantasy "armor". :) A version for the kids would actually be quite usable. :D

This would be the thing for anybody who's doing SCA renders.

my question is..is this set available in the freebies? :P

logansfury ( ) posted Sun, 08 May 2005 at 3:41 PM

Thats lookin like a screencap of an actual model, not a photoshop comedic image. you GOTTA release this...........

Ganthor ( ) posted Sun, 08 May 2005 at 7:29 PM

Release it only if you can do two textures. One of painted on armor, as if it was done by a 3 year old with finger paint, and another of abequally crude robot. It would be great for doing cheap SF films.

logansfury ( ) posted Sun, 08 May 2005 at 7:32 PM

now wait, ya gotta include a plain cardboard box texture or my idea just isnt gonna work........

Zenman53186 ( ) posted Sun, 08 May 2005 at 8:48 PM

Tell you what, Lemurtek...you release it as conforming clothing with a reasonable mapping, and I'll give you some textures... :-)

Thanks! It wouldn't be very difficult to finish this and poserise it, so I guess I will. I don't have the millenium kids, though I could do it for the Poser 4 kids as well I guess. >Release it only if you can do two textures. One of painted on >armor, as if it was done by a 3 year old with finger paint, >and another of abequally crude robot. done by a three year old with finger paint, eh? That's what they say about all my textures! :) I'll work on this and post another pic tomorrow. Thanks all! Regards- Lemurtek

Upload it to the store when you're done, Lemur. ;]

> Upload it to the store when you're done, Lemur. ;] Heh, or better yet, I could do a Merchant Resource Kit. It would be great, if somebody complained about the seams, "it's supposed to look that way!" :) I added a sword (wrapping paper tube variety) and shield. I'll start poserizing it tonight. Regards- Lemurtek

Yep, the bucket really sets it off. ;)

Lemurtek ( ) posted Thu, 12 May 2005 at 3:51 PM

Bucket?!? What Buck... oh, you mean the Fantasy Armor Helmet! :) Regards- Lemurtek

What a scream! I built myself a set like that when I was eight! Not near as good, though...

That looks a lot like my Halloween costume back when I was 11 or so. Course, I wrapped tin foil around my boxes.

Well, poserization begins, with preliminary mapping, textures, and rigging in place. Obviously much work to be done. I've scanned a few items, cardboard, foil etc, for some different textures, prolly do some more too. I need to add something to the knees, an extra piece of cardboard, their pretty open right now. And of course, I need to tweak the joints. Posing is a bit rough right now, but it's in the ballpark. Regards- Lemurtek

Looks really great so far. If you're looking for some good cardboard textures, try http://lemog.club.fr/lemog_v4/lemog3d.htm. They've got some nice ones. As to the knee coverage, I guess you could always duct tape a extra flat piece to the top of the shin sections. Worked for me as a kid.

Lemurtek ( ) posted Mon, 16 May 2005 at 1:24 AM

Thanks for the link, looks like good stuff. However, I generally paint or scan my own textures, even if they're crap, I know they're my crap! :) That's probably what I'll do for the knees, and maybe the elbows too. Thanks for the comments! Regards- Lemurtek
