Subject: Which is the Best V3, S3 or Jessi?

Which is the best of em as per u guys: V3, S3 or Jessi... Realism, Content Availability and Ease of Use taken into consideration! (Plz don't consider cost :) )

DCArt ( ) posted Sat, 14 May 2005 at 11:58 AM

Based on those three criteria, you can't say one is best over the others ... For realism, I'd pick S3. Her body proportions are more realistic than the other two. For content availability, V3 wins hands down. Steph has some cool stuff, and Jessi is too new yet to compete in that category. Ease of use, I'd probably have to pick Jessi. It's easier to add morphs to her with the new P6 features.

thefixer ( ) posted Sat, 14 May 2005 at 12:29 PM

From what I'm seen so far Jessi isn't going to take V3's crown!!!! I haven't used S3 but she does look good but for me it's V3 every time. thefixer poser coordinator.

I like Victroria 3.0 for realism, content availability, and ease of use.
And with the base figure being free, you can't
beat the cost. I have Stephanie 3.0 also, but don't like
the way she looks so I seldom use her. Haven't really played
around with Jessi much but I don't really like the way she
looks either.

Jessi is a real dog when it comes to bending. And the mapping is SO bad. And her eye centers are screwed up, so unless you are keen on editing the jp's, she can't look sideways without them popping out. Also, her head is proportionally wrong in so many ways. At least with V3 and S3, they can share mapping and their bending is way better. That said, Jim Burton has created a beautiful version of Jessi that fixes the bending issue. I for one am looking forward to her. If you're interested, there are threads posted at Poser Pros.

DCArt ( ) posted Sat, 14 May 2005 at 1:43 PM

I agree with that Xena, he's doing a great job with her!

Casette ( ) posted Sat, 14 May 2005 at 1:46 PM

Agree. I love V3. Almost all my renders are V3. Jessi is nice, but I love her as a nice curiosity (at the same level, with the toon differences, of The Girl - The Girl is a nice curiosity). I have SP3 but I dont like her Xena, any url of these threads???

The P5's are the best, even if I'm the only one who thinks so. :O)

nakamuram ( ) posted Sat, 14 May 2005 at 2:42 PM

V3 and Aiko3 are my present favorites. And you can't beat their price. I can't wait to see Jim Burton's Glamorous Jessi, though...

The P5's are the best, even if I'm the only one who thinks so. :O) I do agree, I'm using Don & Judy quite often and I really like them. I don't think anyone is best, I've got all of them, but it depends on what you like most. Personally I think Jessi is the best, but I do use all of them. Although Steph seem to be used the less.

Due to the childish TOS changes, I'm not allowed to link to my other products outside of Rendo anymore :(

Food for thought.....

How can you talk of realism when you look at those armpits/shoulder girdles? Aren't V3 and SP's heads also out of proportion?

SamTherapy ( ) posted Sat, 14 May 2005 at 4:25 PM

"Aren't V3 and SP's heads also out of proportion?" Nope. Their heads are just about right for their relative sizes.

I prefer Furrette 2 myself. OK, so I like the balance of SP3, and Aiko 3, but they don't have fur.

Xena ( ) posted Sat, 14 May 2005 at 4:53 PM

I didn't actually mean the proportion of her head to her body. If you view that thread you'll see her head and facial features are out of 'true' proportions.

randym77 ( ) posted Sat, 14 May 2005 at 5:42 PM

I use V3 most often, simply because she has so much support. We're awash in a sea of V3 content. No other figure comes close.

My personal favorite is Steph Petite. I like her looks, and she bends and poses better than V3. Especially from the rear. V3's butt tends to explode when you bend her forward. But Steph doesn't have as much stuff as V3.

Laura is an interesting possibility. There are morphs that mature her. Netherworks' are great, and only a few bucks. You can also transfer V3 or SP morphs to her. Her arms look better than V3s and SPs. Her head is large compared to her body, since she's supposed to be a child, but given the typical DAZ pinhead proportions, that's not really a flaw.

V3 RR is another possibility. She can take all V3's textures and clothing, and you don't have to inject the morphs. It is a lower-res mesh, though, and not as realistic for closeups or nudes.

onimusha ( ) posted Sat, 14 May 2005 at 6:21 PM

V3 by a landslide. Though it's starting proportions are those of an amazon supermodel, when you morph it, you can make almost any body type or any face. I've successfully made dead on facial morphs of a few friends of mine who had radically different facial features and body weights. You simply can't do that with S3 or Jessi. S3 just doesn't have that versatility. Though in it's unmorphed form it might look somewhat more realistic, it's just not as useful. When you consider the mountain of free content, let alone paid for content for V3, that sends it even further ahead of the pack. I won't even discuss Jessi. Her ridiculously bad, alien looking body ruins the figure completely. I think CL really screwed up here.

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sat, 14 May 2005 at 8:49 PM

REAL humans differ by quite an amount. The have legs and arms which vary in relation to torso length. REAL humans have different facial propotions, not always going with the so-called golden mean. Not one of these figures is realistic... all are far outside the norms. All have problems with pinheads or noodle arms or tiny knees or pointy elbows. You can ignore the problems or do postwork, but the problems remain. Not one of these figures is ugly... except in the eye of the beholder. Not one of these figures is beautiful... except in the eye of the beholder. Everything is opinion... and what in hell does someone else's opinion matter? And once PhilC's Wardrobe Wizard hits the market, the content issue won't matter, either! Carolly

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Sat, 14 May 2005 at 9:41 PM

Personally, I'm happy to use all three.

Although V3 tends to be my default -- merely because I'm heavily invested in her for clothes/hair/etc..

My other choice would be SP, although I haven't done nearly as much with her.

Jessi I've just barely started with.

And once PhilC's Wardrobe Wizard hits the market, the content issue won't matter, either!

That would be great. I hope that the WW will do everything it's supposed to.

With PhilC in charge, I'd bet that it'll do all of that and more.

;)

I prefer Steph. I fnd it much easier to pose her in more extreme poses, as she bends much better than V3. There isn't the huge amount of clothing for her that there is for V3, but she can use all the textures, and I've got clothing convertor... although I confess I haven't yet used it :o)

Jim isn't going to rest until Glamorous Jessi out-bends all the rest. ;-) She says while she isn't finished yet, and she isn't perfect, see would like to the others try this pose. ;-) Nobody will ever beat V3 on content availability, though.

Casette ( ) posted Sun, 15 May 2005 at 12:58 PM

Jim, I have readed your threads at PoserPros (thanks to Xena). Your GJ looks great !!!

Niiiiice work, Jim. Seriously though, aside from Jim's piece up there, I haven't seen much to make me think highly of Jessie. Victoria 3 (with p5's split morph function) keeps me pretty happy in terms of realism, ease of use, and content. If I want something more cartoony, I have A3...

Jim Burton ( ) posted Mon, 16 May 2005 at 11:18 AM

Stock Jessi sorta came out of the oven a bit too soon, methinks. ;-) In addittion to her bending problems, her UV mapping is sloppy, lots of the maps extend slightly past the edges, outside the range of non-tiled UV. Her stock hires teture has the navel detailing that doesn't line up with her mesh navel, plus it is awfuly dark, I noticed. However, other than that it is pretty nice, though, that is what I'm using (Photoshop adjusted) above.

RealitysPoison ( ) posted Tue, 17 May 2005 at 7:39 AM

I personally like S3 out of the box the best. Don't use V3 so much anymore. I liked the initial look at Jessi alot, was just disappointed after I worked with her. But with what Jim is doing with her for Glamorous Jessi...I am expecting I will use her more. He is doing an enormous job ironing out those wrinkles that she came with. :)
