Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 14 4:48 pm)
She does come with a texture...and I have a few textures up in freebies (mostly fantasy things, but the wood elf one is nice and sexy). You have to watch the lighting on the default texture or she can come out looking a little sunburnt. Some of the prop hair does take a little tweeking, but generally not too much. And there are a few of Koz's hair packs that will conform to Mayadoll and work fine. "Wistful Maya" in my gallery shows her base texture and Koz Long Hair. And "Mirtoba & Lycheas" shows my woodelf texture. What version of Poser are you working with? It's been a while since I downloaded her, but with Poser here at work I could give it a go again and see if I can't help you figure out what's going on. =)

Thank you for your response! I am using Poser 6. I just now finally figured out, and I mean FINALLY lol, how to add textures in the material room. It disturbed me when I rendered her and she had no eye color or skin tone LOL. I will go back and look through my files again and see if I can do something with her. I don't understand about the hair....usually I just double click on it and then conform and with other characters it goes where it should. All the hair I have tried with her (hair I got from the Studio Maya site) seems to sit behind the figure and I am not able to bring it forward. Am I possibly doing something wrong? I mean ALL the hair can't be bad. I will definitely look for the ones you spoke of though. Thank you!
I'll get her loaded up in P6 here at work and take a look. (not that I know all that much about P6...) But hopefully I'll be able to recreate the problem and see what's going on with the hair.
You'll also want to think about grabbing Riddokun's Eye texture packages for MayaDoll. They're absolutely wonderful. Edit--just remembered something...Did you grab the updated CR2 for MD? Not sure if that will make a difference or not, but will experiment and see.

Ok...she loaded fine for me in P6, did have to point it to the textures the first go round, but after that things were fine. I guess just make sure Poser knows where the textures are and everything should be fine after that. (I did up a separate runtime for MD) Might also be something to fix within the CR2 as far as file paths are concerned. Updated version worked ok too...but as long as the basic one works for ya you're good to go. Now to the hair...so will be back in a bit. =)

I didn't run through all the hair yet, but the ones I did try worked fine for me. Were they all messing up for you or just specific ones? I know that like the 60s Flip style one you do have to adjust the position a little, but that's just giving the dials a tweek. If possible, can you post a picture of what the hair is doing when you try to use it?

Some of the prop hair is already smart proped to her head...but others aren't as they are designed for a variety of figures. So you may want to load the hair and make sure to parent it to her head before posing her. Conforming stuff obviously doesn't matter when you do it. Another little tid bit, MayaDoll and AnimeDoll can share clothing, cept for the neck area. So turtle-necked shirts and necklaces get a little funky, but everything else works fine. (and in the nearer future...when I get around to finishing it...will be some clothing I'm working up for MD/AD...some mix and match formal ware stuff) ;-)

I do know on a few of the hair files that the texture reference paths in the files are a little off. I can't remember which ones, but it's just the file names are off by a letter or so. The textures are still there and once you find them they work fine. Did you install MD in your main runtime or set her up with one of her own?

"There's a maya doll that accepts V3 textures... so you might want to get her too.." There is? Now how did I miss that. (As he shakes his head and rolls his eyes.) So, found where? I will check Studio Maya's site but if that's not where it is can someone post a link. Thanks. See, that's what happens when you get caught up into modeling more than playing. Mind, modeling is playtime for me but it seems I sure miss some major things. LOL.
Ok, so I think I've got the hair....(it is on there for the moment although I think she takes it off when I'm not looking) and I've got a meh skin tone, but what I STILL can not figure out is eyes.....I downloaded all the eyes and they really only show up as pinholes LOL. So I decide to get smart and go to the material room and change color there. Weird thing is, instead of just being able to pic from say iris and pupil to change, you have L_eye_in, L_Eye_mid,L_Eye_out, R_Eye_in, R_Eye_mid, R_eye_out and an inner eyes. None seems to work so AGAIN I try to be smart and color all the same. Now she has completely filled in blue for eyes....She looks like someone gouged her eyes out and left 2 blue holes LOL. Ok, what do I need to do? LOL
The textures just don't like you much do they.... The multiple eye zones are to help with certain things (I haven't quite figured them all out just yet) but for your textures, apply them to the Mid material zone on each eye. Will attach screen shots of how she loads for me in the materials room.

Really weird that she's not cooperating with you like she should. But will help get things figured out here eventually. =)

Where did you install her?....I'm just wondering if Poser hasn't just gone and confused itself. (It's done that to me on occasion...ususally cleared up by deleting the troublesome files and reinstalling them)

So I downloaded the Maya Doll from Studio Maya and thought she was cute until..... LOL aparently she has no textures or basic skin tone and I can not get her to come out more that just monotone (maybe not right word) looking. Also, when I try to put her hair on, just like I do every other figure, I can not get it to come up from behind, no matter what I do, so she ends up looking bald on the top and front with hair sticking up in the back. Very strange.....Any ideas, suggestions or help? I downloaded everything I could find on her and still nothing. Thanks so much!!!
