Subject: Obiwan's 40k SpaceMarines

rsg ( ) posted Tue, 17 May 2005 at 10:50 PM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 2:39 AM

Does anyone still have or know where to get anything for Obiwan's great SpaceMarines models? I've got the actual models, they're still available over at the Forge (Kirisute's site) and I've got two vehicles. Does anyone know know if there is anything else? And, if so where can I find it? Thank you.

I also wouldlove to know if there is and thing more. I do not have the vehicles,Where are the Vehicles from??? Grant

xantor ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 8:03 AM

There was a site that had a motorbike and a tank and some other space marines stuff and a lot of different poser figures but I couldn`t find the link for it. Maybe someone else will remember?

rsg ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 10:32 AM

I got my two vehicles in the free stuff section nearly two years ago, but my net access was non-existant so I couldnt follow up. I know an artist named Ghost was also releasing stuff for these models, unfortunately what still exists of his site does not include 40k stuff. I contacted Kirisute and he's willing to host anything else Obiwan gives him for the figures, only I need to find Obiwan and get his permission first. Anybody know his real name? Is he still a member here? Thanks.

The marines are great....I'd love to find vehicals for them too.

rsg ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 10:51 AM

If I had a webpage, I'd link to them from freestuff but I don't. If you really want vehicles, etc. help me find Obiwan and get his permission or get him to contact Kirisute. Thanks.

I've searched the free stuff here from top to bottom with every possible keyword I can think of, same for the net. Only hope I've got is this route. Maybe somebody out there has something of this stuff, especially because it's older, between a year and two or more. If anybody has anything could we maybe figure out somewhere to put it where everyone interested can get to it. Kirisute is willing to try making a few weapon props, there is a desire for this stuff. And, all we need is the original stuff and perhaps this genre or whatever can get moving again. I'm not even into WarHammer but those models are amazing. Thanks for any help, anyone can provide.

amberlover13 ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 1:03 PM

I just sent an email to WarHammer (on his site)....I don't know him, but I asked if he could help, and I gave him the link to this thread. Perhaps he can come up with some info for us.

amberlover13 ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 1:09 PM

Bummer, that email came back as an unknown address! Sorry, I at least tried.

rsg ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 1:16 PM

Thanks anway, I think I might have found the Obiwan I'm looking for in the members directory. Worest comes to worsest, I can see if Kiristute can get in touch with him. Let's just keep our fingers crossed.

onimusha ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 3:30 PM

I did this search several months ago, and got a hold of the models from a couple of people with Obiwan's permission. Kirisute got in touch with him to put the marines on Kirisute's site about six months ago. I've seen a Rhino vehicle model and a speeder vehicle model in the galleries, but finding the actual models has led to dead ends.

rsg ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 3:40 PM

Do you know how to contact Obiwan? Because if we get his permission Kirisute will host whatever 40k stuff Obiwan gives him. I have those two vehicles, just have no place to upload them. If Obiwan says okay, perhaps I can send them to Kirisute. Thanks.

onimusha ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 4:00 PM

I think Kirisute got in touch with Obiwan through an IM here at Renderosity. I just IM'd him, and according to the Rendo member list, he was on today. So he should probably give us an answer soon...

Adavyss ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 8:52 PM

Sounds great

rsg ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 8:57 PM

I'm simply waiting on some kind of response from either one. I asked Obiwan to either give me or Kirisute or both a response. So let's hope he says yes.

Helgard ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 9:04 PM

I have all the models and vehicles. If you get permission, I will send whatever I have. If you need hosting, we can also host these on Vansihing Point for you. Some of the models have a few errors on them that actually need a bit of fixing. And someone needs to UV Map these models.

rsg ( ) posted Wed, 18 May 2005 at 11:26 PM

Thanks Helgard, I'm trying very hard to get this done. The two vehicles I have that work are near perfect. I also have a non-working Drop Pod model, it won't even load. But, hopefully we can get permission. It seems like quite a few people are very eager to get their hands on those models as well. I respond as soon as I can get an answer either way.

onimusha ( ) posted Thu, 19 May 2005 at 4:19 AM

I actually have an extremely functional drop pod. Maybe we can add that to the group of files as well...

rsg ( ) posted Thu, 19 May 2005 at 12:01 PM

I just got this response to basically the same question on Runtime DNA. A guy named Efudd says he has all the files from an artist named phantom/ghost and gave me a list. I will also try to contact this person to get person to have his works hosted, I know Obiwan remapped Phantom's Rhino model. So, have to see where this goes. Here's an excerpt from runtime dna post: Efudd; Space Marine Vechicles: = 7 zip Files/6.6 megs (Bike, Demolish, Lspeeder, Pod, Pred, Rhino, Thunderhawk) Space Marine addon packs = 10 zip files/5.48 megs Space Marine pose packs = 6 zip files/383k Space Marine Characters = 15 zip files/15.6 megs Chaos Marines = 7 zip files/5.84 megs Eldar - 1 zip file/928k 2 misc files - Resources and textures I dont have any hosting capablity... But if theres anyone that can host them let me know and I'll send them to you, providing approval or if your unable to get any response back from Ghost. So, Helgard if this guy is whiling to share do you think Vanishing Point will host them? I'll let everybody know if I get a response from anyone.

Adavyss ( ) posted Thu, 19 May 2005 at 12:14 PM

rsg, I have some spare web space and can host some or all the files. Just let me know

rsg ( ) posted Thu, 19 May 2005 at 12:17 PM

I just checked my instant messages and here's Obiwan's response; Instant Message from Obiwan: Hi rsg Yes Im the same. I have been rather distracted lately. But the good news is that the new Rhino is completed and just needs the texture map finishing. Im confident the UVs are good.(If you know anyone with the talent and motivation let me know) Ill try and get the landspeeder over to Kirisute this weekend. So this is great news, now if I can only talk to this Phantom guy. We might be able to get these models out there again. Adavyss I'll be sure and let you know. Thanks.

efudd ( ) posted Thu, 19 May 2005 at 12:57 PM

Hi all I'm the same person that posted on RDNA's site about having all of the models from Ghost. Just let me know when and where to shot them to, if theres no response from Ghost or if he doesn't mind. Btw, JHoag/Helgard can't want to get my hands on the Huey this weekend :-) And any word if your going to be able to do the MELB addon for the littlebird? (still keeping fingers crossed :-) also any chance you have any tips on working with your camo nets with poser 6 and the clothing setup? Feel free to IM me Via Renderosity (just dumb luck I saw the post on RDNA) with any specfic questions on the warhammer files or anything else :-)

rsg ( ) posted Thu, 19 May 2005 at 3:53 PM

Here's a question; suppose Phantom is no longer on the net. But, his site still exists and he has the intent on this site for people to his access to his 40k models. If they're not available through him would we still be following his intent by placing them somewhere on the web where people can get them? It's a grey area, thought I'd get some feed back.

Helgard ( ) posted Thu, 19 May 2005 at 6:22 PM

To everyone: Contact JHoagland about hosting any sci-fi models, either for sale or freebies, on Vanishing Point. We already have about 150 sci-fi freebies, and a few more won't hurt. Efudd: If you have any of the camouflage nets I made, you can easily make your own. Take the Poser hi-res square, found under primitives in the props section. Apply the three maps on my camouflage nets, there will be one for colour, which you can replace with any square map, there will be one for a trans-map, and one for a bump map. Place your model in the scene, add the hi-res square, and position it above the model. Go to the cloth room, and run a cloth simulation, letting the hi-res square drape over the model. Then export the hi-res square, and you have a camouflage net custom made for your model.

If anybody has these models, talk to Vanishing Point about hosting them. Itd help everybody out. They're all freebies anyway. And, Ghost is still an active member here, I messaged him to get permission, Ill post his response here as well. Thanks for all the help. Hope we get to see some of these models around someplace.

rsg ( ) posted Sun, 22 May 2005 at 12:38 AM

efudd was kind enough to send all the models to Vanishing Point, now all we have to do is wait. Thank everyone for your responses.

JHoagland ( ) posted Sun, 22 May 2005 at 2:52 PM

An update- efudd sent me the zip files. I'm going to clean up them before uploading- most of the zip files do not have correct pathing information and some don't have rsr/ png thumbnails. I'll post a message when they're ready... which should be sometime tonight or tomorrow. :) --John

John, it looks like you've done a very nice job on cleaning up Ghost's 40k models. They were one of the first model sets I ever played with in poser, so it cool to see them get some new life. To answer the original question, I'd have to double check my runtime when I get home but I know for sure that Obiwan released a Rhino, a Speeder and a Drop pod/ship. IIRC there were two texture variants to each, one that was Space Wolf specific and another that was released with one of the 'variant' chapters he released.

rsg ( ) posted Mon, 23 May 2005 at 12:47 PM

Obiwan's models are now available at Kirisute's website. I had the Rhino and the Speeder, both are SpaceWolf specific, I didnt see any variant textures.
