Guess I ran into the memory problem. I tried to open it in Poser but it miss a *.pmd file. So what use are that file for?

I think PMD format saves morph data in Poeser 6, but I don't have P6, so can't give any details.

Yes - the pmd is a P6 file format, but P6 also uses pz3.

It might be some kind of backup file? (I dont have p6 so I cant check ).

Its described on Page 200 of your manual. Second paragraph. I dont have it completly worked out myself, so i cant really describe it in my own words.
