who has this and what can you tell me about it?

Angel1 ( ) posted Sat, 21 May 2005 at 7:45 AM

For me it's the best little program out there!!! :-) I never open my Poser without also opening this. It enables you to organize your runtime including renaming files - seeing inside zips without unzipping - deleting items you don't want (a clean delete meaning gets ALL the files associated) I could go on and on................. I can't say enough good things about this program and the product support is the best of the best!!!! I truly believe that if you have Poser you should have this! Angel1

Angel1, you said: (a clean delete meaning gets ALL the files associated) I bought P3dO and I don't know about that. Could you explain how this works please? France

Make sure you have installed your license (which you should have gotten after you purchased it) click on the item you want to delete - go to tools | delete scene - from there you can choose which portions of the file you want to delete. Let me know if you need further help :-) Angel

Ok thank you. It works but only if the textures and/or object files are in the same folder as the cr2, pz2, etc. or if they are in the main Poser Runtime. Still, it can be useful. France

I have my runtime like this: AnimauxRuntimeGeometries AnimauxRuntimeLibraries AnimauxRuntimeTextures And I tried to use that feature on a MATpose file that works and it wanted to delete only the pz2 and the png even if it showed me what files were referred to in the pz2 file. And now I retried it to be sure and you won't believe what happened! I had a folder in my temp folder that contains a runtime with a pose library and a Textures folder (a matpose). I made a copy of it and in that copy I selected the pz2 file and then Tools-Delete Scene and it wanted to delete the whole scene, ie., pz2, png and texture file BUT it was going to delete the texture file that is already installed in AnimauxRuntimeTextures!!!! That pose file was already installed you see. Then I tried in folder that has not been installed yet... It wanted to delete only the pz2 and png files and there are textures in there. Do you think I should write to the creator?

Hi Francemi, you don't need to write to me since I'm here ;) The delete scene function is looking for files along the Poser path. The order in which P3dO is looking for files is important since the first file found is the one proposed for deletion. In the case above (a complete copy of a MAT pose file) the scene manager should have proposed the local copy (files in the same folder) before the files in the Poser runtime. I will check this. You can contact me at lac@senosoft.com if you wish. If you find anything not working as you would like in P3dO don't hesitate to tell me. Yarp btw This also gave me an idea for an improved scene manager ;)

Well since you ask... ;o) I would love for P3dO to have its own search feature. I just hate XP's search... too complicated for nothing. Because of this, I don't use P3dO to organize my Poser files, I only use it to convert rsr to png. I use 2xExplorer to move and copy the files and this causes a problem because if I forget to go to another folder in P3dO before I move the folder in 2xExplorer... no more P3dO! It freezes. As I am reinstalling all my Poser files these days, I'd say it freezes about 20 times a day. AND (might as well ask this too) it would be just great if we could convert *.bum to *.jpg ;o) But I don't regret buying the program. It is worth my money just for the little time it takes to convert all the RSR to PNG in MANY folders at the same time! France

I've got a search plugin in my todo list, but it is a far away project. I don't like the Windows search utility either but it is cheap programming. The freezing problem when deleting/moving current folder is something I noticed only recently (after 1.7.7). It'll be fixed for 1.8. An image converter plugin with BUM<->JPG will be released this summer. > But I don't regret buying the program Thanks. I'm aware of severall limits in P3dO, and I'm working on bypassing them. About the problem your related above. I think we misunderstood each other. The purpose of Scene Manager is to delete a whole scene (including textures), so it is quite normal that even if you move the scene to another location it looks for the textures in your runtime/texture folder (unless they are in the same folder as your scene). If you just want to delete a PZ2, with attached PNG, the standard delete command is ok. Did I got something wrong ? Yarp

Yarp, I know why it didn't work. I was only trying this feature that I didn't know and I didn't want to make a mistake and delete the good files so that's why I tried it in a temp folder. But the files were also installed in my Runtime and that's why P3dO wanted to delete the texture files in the good Runtime instead of in the Runtime folder of the temp folder. And the bum to jpg converter will be a really good addon! ;o) France

Francemi, this was not for nothing. This problem gave me some ideas on how to improve the scene manager. The next version will be able to solve such a problem. Severall other good addons are under construction, P3dO is growing... and fixing ;) Hi Angel1, I don't forget I have to contact you as soon as the new scene manager is available. At the moment I'm still working on Poser poses.

It'll be available with the 1.8 update : Awk 1.8 (plugins now have same version number as P3dO).
