PPP now can compress its associate files ; pz3 -> pzz obj -> obz cr2 -> crz the laters reduce the file size , better for HD and convenient for web transmission. so I ssume for download purpose, the uploader may provide two versions of his files for the downloader to chosse which version to get. In a nutshell, for P4 and for PPP version.

The compression used in the files is basically just "zip", they can be decompressed in most expanders as far as I know.

thanks , winzip does.

Yeah its probably using zlib for compression. If you're distributing and packing the item into a zip you're better off not compressing and letting winzip do it for you. people always make that mistake with jpgs. They think making something a jpg then stuffing that into a zip will double the compression. In reality they only gain a few percent and that is from compressing the header in the zip. Now I don't what they are doing with compression with the propack but I would think it would be a boon if they tokenized the cr2 so it didn't have to parse the thing upon loading. That would be a great speed up.

You have a choice to compress cr2's & obj's on save to the library and Pz3's to the HD.

that's the point, not all users got ppp. but mason was right, zipped poser files can be unzip using commom zip tools.

What PPP does with the files already on libraries but not compressed:it automaticly compressed all your stuff if you select this option in preferences?Did you mean that if i save a pzz file ,anyone can take it if he doesn't have PPP,load in winzip(how winzip knows this extension?and extract the pz3 version .I am waiting my order of PPP.Thanks

i tried to drag a obz(obj in zip) and winzip just asked me to fill the "" for ob, so i typed obj and it seems unzip for me.

When I open a .crz file in WinZip, the contents appear to be the .crz file. Using Winzip 8.1j I tried renaming the .crz to .zip and it says it's not a valid archive. Am I doing something wrong? Is there some other tool I should be using?
