THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Curved stuctures?

In a recent scene I made a simple lighthouse out of a cylinder object and cone. Is there a way to make the cylinder walls curve or bow? slope up from the bottom?

you can not bow objects in Bryce, the only way to d othat is doing a super torus booleaned in order to have only a part of it.

Slope up from the bottom - Use a cone, and boolean off the top of it.

You can curve, bow, slope, or carve any of the primitive shapes with other shapes. I made this real quick to show you. The red wires belong to negative Toruses, laying flat, which cut the cylinders and the main cone. The curvature of the torus is adjustably vertically, or click the little "E" and do the inner radius numerically.

You can create any shape you want, nearly. NEARLY...! Just make sure your cutters are negative, your cut-ees are positive, and that the objects you want to affect others in this manner are grouped together. (Ctrl-G)

Piece of cake! Good luck on your lighthouse, keep us posted?

LSD, Er... what are those multiple darlek rods? And what are the blue spheres in the bottom torus?

Rough and ready but I'm sure you get the idea.

Bryster's got the idea... Although it looks like some of your parts aren't at "0" on the X and Y. Gotta keep it all lined up, if you want symmetry... Fran, the spheres are negative spheres, just making some little semisphere pits as they carve into the positive shapes. The cylinders towards the top are just for fun, too! I made this real quick to illustrate the same thing Bryster was doing... Kinda got carried away, perhaps I'll use this for something else one day. awesome folks, I love all of the responses, I did look for this in a tutorial, I guess the very first Bryce Tutorial touched on it with the vaulted roof and the ball in the middle to carve out the top of the roof. I will try and make a better lighthouse...I have my homework assignment! heheh thank you all!

Hey, LSD, when do we get to see a textured version of the Lighthouse with the Darlek rods? (of course they could be cotton buds!) ggg
