What's lacking in the current Poser ready 3d people that you'd like to see incorporated into the 4th generation DAZ people (that is if DAZ was planning a 4th generation)???

Support for Poser 6?

svdl ( ) posted Mon, 18 April 2005 at 10:42 AM

#1: Better shoulders; #2: Better hip joints; #3: Better elbows; #4: Better knees; #5: Better finger and thumb joints, especially the base; #6: More realistic figure size; 6 feet is a lot taller than the average woman; #7: Anatomical completeness; #8: Less polygons in place where they don't matter #9: EMC muscle morphs built right in both in body and head; #10: organisation in P5/P6 groups by default; #11: coordinated eye movement. Might think of some more later...

what they said ^ + Face room support Bundled face/body morphs morphs to change shape to V1/V2/V3 so content is not rendered useless.

mask2 ( ) posted Mon, 18 April 2005 at 12:39 PM

...I would like to add... a dedicated DAZ folder in the pose folder so that the pose folder is not invaded by all the Dazpeople INJ/REM folders... that cannot be moved elsewhere PLUS NO V3SAE-like chars with all of their morphs already preloaded (I hate that)

shedofjoy ( ) posted Mon, 18 April 2005 at 1:00 PM

Svdl got it in one, And realistic bending would be a must, via morphs,Jcm's or whatever.... OHHH and one addition, Able to use V3 textures maybe... as im not the only one who forked out sh*t loads for textures to start doing that all over again...

Getting old and still making "art" without soiling myself, now that's success.

It would be a dream if they have it were it can be V3 texture compatible without trying to remake the texture or to use a UTC texture plug-in...

Other than that, we'll see...

@mask2: the INJ/REM folders can be moved. Not in P4, but it works fine in P5/P6. My Pose folder consists of a multiple level hierarchy, the INJ/REM, Character MAT/MOR, Cloth MAT/MOR and Poses for each of the Mill 3 people nicely grouped together. The special !DAZ subfolder outside the standard libraries cannot be moved though. If you run into problems moving the INJ/REM folders, get the updated morph packs, they have been fixed.

to avoid impossible joint bending mess, a series of good joints as bodymorphs. Example: arm along the body to 45, then from 45 'till 90, then 90-135 and 135-180. This would fix bad armpits for the greatest part. Add to this arm forwards, backwards etc and we come close. another thing I'd love is arms instead of the V3-SP drumsticks. And a better mouth that does not need tweaking it yourself. Apart from that, I still hope Seraphira will take up the Kaimira project again. That was/is/will be a good mesh.

I have tried prudent planning long enough. From now I'll be mad. (Rumi)

all the material zones from the body suits built into the mesh.

tastiger ( ) posted Mon, 18 April 2005 at 4:54 PM

Nah- let's get more realism....

Teeth that you have to take V4 to the dentist for a checkup once a year.

Finger and toenails that need clipping.

Build the Gen 4 models with their own hair that you can style and you need to send them to hairdressers to get it trimmed.

Body hair - so as Victoria has to shave under her arms and her legs.

Seriously though - some new form of morph setup to get rid of those damn "!"Folders - I would really hate to still be using Poser 4 with no sub folders....

And face room support.

The supreme irony of life is that hardly anyone gets out of it alive.

Aeneas: Sera is sick and she'll be out of the forums for a while/ tastiger: The face room is owned by CL and is an integral component of P5/P6. I don't see it being hacked for DAZ support as that might a major interface rewrite. I do see DAZ using pmds for their morph injections in the future though. The thing I'd like to see is some added versatility through the eye-nose-brow region that can be better disguised from character to character.

Dale B ( ) posted Mon, 18 April 2005 at 6:14 PM

Add to sdvl's: 1) Articulated feet for the animators 2) More realistic parenting practices (sandals being controlled by the front of the foot, not the heel) in general. 3) -At least- one more lumbar region joint for more accurate flexion of the torso (you could probably have a couple thoracic joints with limits on as well). 4) A bit more anatomy (create the nasal passages high enough to not have to worry about glowing nostrils, more of the mouth-throat structure, again for those close ups, an actual ear canal).

The face room is owned by CL and is an integral component of P5/P6 Actually, CL licenses the Face Room technology from Singular Inversions (makers of FaceGen ... see their SDK info at http://www.facegen.com/sdk.htm). While I don't know this for a fact, I suspect that CL (or anyone who licenses the SDK) has to pay a fee for each figure they make compatible with the face room, in addition to all the work involved with making them compatible. It doesn't appear that it would be an easy task to make it compatible. In short, to make a DAZ figure compatible with the Poser face room, DAZ, CL, and Singular Inversions would all have to be involved, I would think.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Mon, 18 April 2005 at 10:31 PM

I have seen articulated feet requested but I am not sure what you mean. I also see that people like Jessie's ablity to bend toes but Vicki can do that so I must be missing something.

DCArt ( ) posted Mon, 18 April 2005 at 10:48 PM

Vicki can bend all toes at once. Jessi's can bend individually. In other words, you can make her have a muscle spasm in her foot that makes her big toe stick straight up and her pinky toe stick sideways. LOL (Yes, I have really had those and they hurt like hell! ROFL)

nakamuram ( ) posted Mon, 18 April 2005 at 10:53 PM
Online Now!
  1. Clothing compatibility with V3. V4 should be to V3 as V2 was to the original Vicky. We all have spent too much on V3 clothing for a completely new figure. 2) Thickness reduction morphs. V3 is as thick as a man. Let's give her feminine thickness. 3) Height morphs or workable height scaling. 4) Two sets of changeable joint parameters that could also be transferred to the clothing. One set for small to moderate bends and one set for moderate to extreme bends. We should be able to select which parameters we want to use for each joint individually. 5) More detail in the feet would be nice. So would the ability to pose each toe individually.

Ghostofmacbeth ( ) posted Mon, 18 April 2005 at 11:10 PM

Ahh .. I would like movement in vicki's big toe but for the most part there isn't a whole lot of individual movement in toes.

DCArt ( ) posted Mon, 18 April 2005 at 11:33 PM

Let's see ... as much as I love the Millenium figures I'd like to see (1) More realistically proportioned head, hands, and feet. (2) Full expression morph dials .. smiles, frowns, fear, sadness, rage, aloofness, coy, flirty, etc. (3) Hopefully NOT more polygons ... in fact, something in between V2 and V3 would be really nice.

Fazzel ( ) posted Mon, 18 April 2005 at 11:43 PM

The body morphs pack for Victoria 3 alreaday lets you move the big toe independently of the other toes. And the other toes can be moved (en masse) independently of the big toe.

Dale B ( ) posted Tue, 19 April 2005 at 7:04 AM

V3 is better about it in the foot department than earlier versions yes, but both Judy and Jessie are much better for making a modern jazz dancer (or someone just running or climbing barefoot), because of the extra flex ability the front of the foot has. You can take one of the ballet BVH files off the net, get the gross corrections done, apply to Judy and Vickie both, and just by adjusting the bend and slope of the toes turn that into a credible non-ballet dance routine. But Judy allows you actually shape the foot, spreading and twisting the toes in reaction to the motion of the body enough that you can actually risk low angle shots. Vickie's just isn't flexible enough to do that safely. You may not think about it, but the eye and mind notice and catalog....and a little thing like that can blow the illusion. That's why you see so many animations where no one takes their shoes off, or wears sandals. Getting it right takes time, and budgets usually require glossing over other things to concentrate on the hands and face.

hoppersan2000 ( ) posted Tue, 19 April 2005 at 7:40 AM

Pre rigged to be used in 3d Max with Character Studio, I still haven't come to gripsith Poser's animation ability but if she were pre set to be used in Max, look out!!

eric501 ( ) posted Tue, 19 April 2005 at 8:15 AM

maybe they just need to make millinium feet. :)

Dale B ( ) posted Tue, 19 April 2005 at 9:19 AM

Actually, that would be rather nice; both arm and leg figures. A lot of fantasy workers would love to have the 4 fingered hand variant that Natalia has on the DAZ characters, as well as either geometry swapping or figure replacement for legs, to create some of the non-human fantasy types. Maybe six or eight breasts for the cat fanciers... A morph stub for attachment of a tail, so that the thing actually looks like a part of the body, not an add on.... Or maybe do Davo one better! Top his gore pack with Millenium Maceration! Geometry swapping on each major extremity to give you either a healed stump, a fresh amputation, or a shredded, bloody mess that was obviously wrenched from the mouth of a carnivore with =big= teeth... Probably more chance of that one than there is of anatomical correctness....

PapaBlueMarlin ( ) posted Tue, 19 April 2005 at 10:16 AM

How about coming in 2 versions in the same figure pack: hi-res and lo-res, rather than having to buy them separately...

grylin ( ) posted Tue, 24 May 2005 at 12:49 PM

maybe some more 'realistic facial features? like the nose. looks too' perfect' on v3 for example. and yep. should b able t use v4 evt. in the faceroom :)
